Any current reports for Whitney would be appreciated. Headed up Saturday to give it a try.

Try to stay out of the wind. The lake gets rough, other than that have been avoiding getting on the lake for that reason. Have been hearing about good catches on the blacks in shallow still, also the whites and strippers have also been shallow. Good luck, hope someone can give you better information and maybe you can provide a report upon your return

It might be a day to look to Aquilla or at least some back water areas, maybe the river.... supposed to be WINDY all weekend.. also with the gov'ment shut down possibility, Corp parks and ramps may or may not be closed.... State park will be open and private parks like Juniper Cove will be open... maybe the "unmanned" Corp parks.. not sure.

Other than that, the fish are still turned on... they are not affected by nature's wind or the gov'ment huffin' and puffin' blow hards....

Whitney is very good.... lots of big fish being caught and plenty of numbers. Have caught most of our fish shallow inside the coves.... on c-rigs and t-rigs, but know that those who know how to fish are doing well on other stuff too.

Heed drpree's warning about the winds... trailer to the area you are planninng to fish and be cautious about being on the lake after the winds hit 20 mph and above.... big swells, rough.

Well, if the wind is that bad on Aquilla, you sure don't want to be on Whitney.

There are two ramps on Aquilla... the Old School Ramp on the West side is more sheltered and unless the wind is out of the north / north east and really fierce, it is always easy to get in and out.. You just have to tolerate the gravel road getting in... as dusty as it is, you likely will have an inch of fine white dust on your boat when you get there if you use the Old School ramp. Other than that and the fact that it is a bit of a bumpy ride, Old School is just fine. I used it last week, but we had just had that 3/4 inch rain and the dust was down. I would suggest using your boat cover if you go to Old School, just to keep the dirt out.

They've been elusive the last couple days. Wind has really been fierce.

Fished Saturday and the weather was great. Bite was really lite but the fishing was great. Our best was around 4 lbs but we caught a lot of fish. The fish were pretty shallow but we caught out to about 15 feet. Most of our fish came on plastic. The bite was consistent all over the lake. We fished north and south of the bridge.

Fished next to Steele Creek Park yesterday. Fishing was good caught a 6 pounder a 4 and lots in the 2-3 pound range. Threw soft plastics and shad detailed crankbaits. Most fish were in 5 to 10 feet of water, clarity was 1 to 2 feet water temp was 67.
