I too have used 15lb Berkley Big Game to fix my wife's shoe strap.
There is no such thing as "too much" fishing.

Last week door switch for the dryer broke. The plastic housing had cracked. After super glueing the piece back on, I used some 15# green flourocarbon coated pline to keep it together. Wife complemented me today that the dryer is still working fine. Hope to work it for at least a couple of hall passes. The wife able to do chores does not justify hall passes. Sorry friend...good try.

Last year I used 50# Spiderwire braid to sew the button back on the waist of my favorite pair of fishing shorts. Now I use it for all of the waist buttons I keep overloading. Haven't broke off a button since I began using braid.
Also have used 50# mono in the garden to help hold up tomato plants to their stakes. I too have used it for picture hanging wire to hang photos on wall.
Bad decisions make good stories.

I used to have a suped-up truck with not so tall but wide tires. I had a flat the jack from the factory didn't get low enough to get under the truck with the new rims, Long story short I pulled the flat tire up unto a boat oar to get the extra inch I needed. Then after all that had to jump off the engine with the boat battery, believe it or not I got to the lake on time and caught a ton of fish. And I never had trouble with that truck again. I have also sewed my daughters favorite stuffed animal with a fish hook and power pro line on a camping trip. Betty Bear lost an arm it was an emergency. The bears arm is still on .

Who is a Fishing McGyver? I once used a mad mann craw worm to stop my boat from taking on water, due to a broken aerator pump.

I have a piece of 80lb mono in my upstairs bathroom holding the flapper valve to the handle. The chain would keep getting under the flapper, but the mono is stiff and doesn't fall.
Last year my friend's foot switch busted the rubber cover so we could not operate it. I did a make-shift repair on the water with the end of a Zoom tube (hollow, rounded end) over the switch. We fished that way until we got the new switch (a week or so).
