I fish by myself mostly. I like being able to make decisions and not worry about my partner. I also enjoy fishing with a partner. It make the day more pleasant having someone to talk to.

I have to talk to people all week and seem interested....No wonder I fish alone so often.

Awesome responses!! I was fishing most of the weekend, and didn't get online one time. Come into work Monday morning and couldn't believe all the views and replies to this post. Cool to see how many solo fishermen are out there, and lots of good input!

Throwback...same here. we fished Twin Buttes on Friday afternoon. It's almost unlaunchable. The buoy in the cove at the ramp is sitting in 2 foot of water, pitiful! We went to Oak Creek on Saturday, it's stick up city. We need some rain, or us West Texas fishermen will have to start driving east and south.

I fish alone mostly for two reasons - circumstances dictated a smaller first boat and in that smaller boat I find I fish better if I'm not worrying about sharing the space. On Saturday, I anchored up in a couple of spots rather than getting worked on the trolling motor in the wind. I caught two of my fish moving all over the boat to cast.

That being said, after this season, I'd like to upgrade and find some consistent fishing partners. The voices in my head aren't the best company when I'm not finding fish and I miss the trash talking.

I fish alone quite a bit or just have my wife and/or kids (5 and 2). My kids sort of fish at times and my wife either is yelling at the kids or chillin. I have not taken anyone else out yet. Mostly cause I go on a spur of the moment thing if kids/wife a napping I grab the boat and go. I have offered a few time but no takers.
I like it because most of the people at work are causal fishertype that I would be teaching and thats what I do at work.

They make youth models but they are costly. We waited until he met the 85 pound requirement on the universal model then got him one. It fits him fine. We have tested it, works great!

I fish alone 85% of the time. I don't mind company, just seems no one can ever get away. isn't it funny - when you don't have a boat you always wish someone would ask you to go. When you do have a boat, it seems you can never find anyone. launching by myself isn't that bad, unless a big storm blows in and then it just plain sucks.

But I also spent a lot of years in the back of the boat and that is where I made the biggest improvements to my game. I didn't have to run the trolling motor, or watch for stumps, I just had to fish. I could really concentrate. I was fortunate enough to fish with several guys that were on the BASS tour at the time and sitting in the back of the boat watching them taught me alot.

I fish with my dad alot because he owns the boat. He sometimes lets me take it out on my own to fish by myself if we're camping. At times I do like knowing that I have control of the boat and can fish for what I want to fish for instead of jsut sand bass all the time.

I fish most of the time with my son. He runs the trolling motor etc. I like sitting in the back and not having to do all the work. My only complaint is that he fishes a little fast for my taste. I just got back from Falcon. Fished four days by myself. Really enjoyed it and caught a lot of fish. May have to do this more.

I fished 80% or more alone, mostly because I used to fish at night a lot and on the weekdays (had a night shift job). These days I much prefer to fish with someone, and often will not go if it means fishing alone. There are still plenty of times though I will venture out alone, if it's calm and I think I can get a few quality hours in. I will also fish alone if others cannot commit to the time I have in mind, sometimes I want to fish an insane amount of time, while others are ready to call it around 3pm.

I'm retired and can fish anytime I want to. I fish about 50% of my time alone and some of the time i prefer it that way because it can be less of a hassle. But it can get expensive. I've learned a lot fishing with other people.

Like a lot of others have said, I love both.

I have more "fun" when I have a buddy there. But I fish a lot better and I zone in more when I am alone.

I just listen to my IPOD and the time flies by. No pressure, no rush.

I like fishing by myself because I catch more fish when by myself. I tend to catch less when someone else is with me or when I'm in their boat. However, it is nice once in a while to have someone to BS with.

Went out yesterday by myself, and loved it. Current boat does not have a keel guard, so did not try the rope. Just went to the ramp I am most comfortable with, found an area to beach the boat that was somewhat deep...no problems. I unhooked the trailer chain and loosened the winch by about two feet. Got in the boat once it was floating a bit off the trailer, fired up the outboard, unhooked winch and pushed off the trailer. Boat came down a little harder than I would have liked, need to try something else with that step next time. But all in all...no problems, except for the fishing part vs the wind. Can't wait to do it again, thanks for all the great feedback.
