This past weekend I came across a fishermans fisherman! I was fishing the Copano Bay fishing pier, with family, when the group a light over landed a 39 Black Drum. I took my girlfriends nephew over so he could see such a huge beautiful fish for the first time. I asked one of the gentlemen what they were using for bait and he said Crab. I asked what size hook he was using. He said Hold on let me get this hook out (of the Drum) and Ill give you one. He proceeded to give me about a number 3 or 4 Kahle Hook and then showed me different ways to hook the crab, how to fish it, and how the Drum take the bait. I have wanted to learn how to use crab as bait for awhile now and some of you guys here have helped me along the way and I appreciate itbut there is no better way than hands on.

I went back to my fishing group totally excited with the information that I had just learned. I would have to wait to use it though because I was unable to get any crab from the bait shops. About ten minutes later the gentlemen I talked with walked over and gave me a crab for bait. I thanked him for his generosity and quickly put my new found knowledge to work. On their way out they stopped by our group and left us the rest of their crab. I set up the rest of my group, passing along the information and setting them up with the bait.

We had a lot of good hits on the crab but were unable to make any hook-ups. I always tell my girlfriend that fisherman are a different breed of people. I think they tend to be a little more honest and a little more trustworthywell this guy showed me that they can be a little classier as well! He didnt have to take the time to show me any of what he did. He could have just said they were using crab and left it at that but he didnt. He took the time to make sure that I would have just as enjoyable a time fishing with crab as he does. Thank you who ever and where ever you areI greatly appreciate ya!

Great story snagle_toof!

Make sure you pass it on when you have the opportunity with someone who can learn something from you!

I'll bet your nephew picked up on that too!
