The new Navionics Freshest Data program has started. The first on many updates is now available at Navionics.com in the Web Store. This first update is for all HOT MAPS PREMIUM Charts as Well as GOLD Charts for saltwater. Platinum will be coming. This first update speeds up the redraw speed for all units especially for Lowrance. AS updates come this first one will set the platform. No new data on lakes yet but stay tuned. For us here in Texas a big update on our major lakes is just around the corner.

These updates are available to anyone who has a chart that was purchased after October 1, 2010. Just simply go to Navionics.com and register your chart and follow the directions.

Will there be any changes or updates to the data?

slightly o-t here, but can you still send your old chips in for rebates on the new ones?

Thanks for that. I had looked for it and couldn't find it either. Haven't registered yet but thinking about it now. Got this info from Mary-Ellen Broyer at Navionics.

The clock starts for updates when you register your chart on the Navionics Web Store not from the date of your purchase. The update is done from the Navionics Web Store to your existing chart cartridge. You will also be entitled to a Free PC App from the Navionics Web Store which will allow for viewing the chart data on your pc.

Like that signature! I'm both of those, but do more of the latter. I think some of what I've been learning from reading here and from TOW is finally starting to sink in though.

Unfortunately the trade in rebate ended December 31, 2010. However the freshest data program is up and running. Stay tuned for some great new data on SEVERAL key lakes in Texas!

Does the free updates apply to Hot Maps or just Premium and above?

Hotmaps doesn't qualify, must be premium or better. Check this post from Mary-Ellen Broyer.

Registered my Hotmaps Premium South (PREM-S6) yesterday on the Navionics web site under events because someone posted finding the register link there, but that didn't do much.
http://www.navionics.com/RegisterYourProduct.asp

Also registered on their web store.
http://store.navionics.com/faqs/installation_help

When I completed that process I had to put my PREM-S6 SD card in a SD card reader. I bought a Dynex at Best Buy for $25 but there's lots of models.
http://www.dynexproducts.com/products/computers/DX-CR6N1.html

It gave me options to download the SD card update and the free PC App. First I did the SD card which downloaded a V1.23 update of 965MB. There's a tab on the side to unlock it so you can write to it, and remember to lock it back when done. When I put it in my Humminbird 788ci and powered it up, it locked it up at first and I had to flip off my accessory breaker to kill power to it to get it to power off. When I turned it back on, it worked fine. Not sure what updates I got on the SD card but I got something I guess.

Then I did the PC App of another 964MB. I have Verizon internet with 35/35MB upload and download but it still took a good while. So if you do this, you need a fast internet connection. I played with that for a couple of hours and I like it.

I have a Humminbird and the MSD/HMPT-S6 Platinum and getting a little impatience as the Premium has been released for 2 weeks.

I'm hoping the map detail update is not going to be as bad.
