does anyone know exactly where this pond is located? Ive seen it on the TPWD website, but theres no directions.

have no clue.....i would assume there is something in it or else TPW wouldn't list it as a "fishable" lake

Has anyone actually found this place yet? TPWD says this is a twelve acre lake. I live right down the road and can't find it. Google doesn't show anything except for the ponds at the retirement community and Canyon Creek CC.

It's a flood control pond to protect Canyon Creek Country Club and nice houses that back up to the creek from flooding. The dam for the pond is on the south side of renner rd. and the pond/lake is behind the Holiday Express on GBTW and north of renner road. It can be hard to spot because its almost always dry. I have fished this pond 3 or 4 times and there is nothing there. Once stocked all the bass washed down to the country club ponds used for irrigation or were food for the sunfish and bream that are everywhere there. Lots of snakes during summer time. I had high hopes but the dam has a slow release gate that stays open all the time so during heavy rain the pond controls the volume but as the gate never closes it empties out the pond. It could be a large volume pond but it just fills and flushes as designed. Sorry for the bad news because I was thinking what you were thinking. Undiscovered urban gem untouched by human hands. Nope, mud hole. Keep looking there are urban fishing spots everywhere and your research was on the right track. Cross ref TPWD community fishing lakes and TPWD stocking report and you'll find some great spots. Remember some of us have stocked our favorite local streams and ponds for our own pleasure so dont over look anything. Look where creeks flow under roads for deep pockets and cover. You'll never know what you'll find, it's all park of the fun of fishing. Exploring, finding, hitting a top secert honey hole, taking pic's, catch and release, and keeping you mouth shut. I was affraid that was it. I didn't want to believe that it was the mudhole I had been driving past for years. I found a spot off of Luna and Beltline that looks promising. Any thoughts on that?

Luna @ Beltline west side of Luna under GBTW. If thats the pond your thinking about it's an old gravel pit from the construction of I35 way back in the day. I know people that catch some really nice catfish there and have seen pic's of bass but I think it's really a nice place to land some good cats. I would question the water quality. Float fishing, kayak, or canoe fishing would be fun. Parking is easy right off south bound Luna road before Beltline. If your scouting that area drive west on Beltline past Luna and turn in south right before you cross the trinity river. Google map and look at the pond behind those warehouses and there is easy access to the river. We've landed quite a few sandies back there.

I drive past the Luna/Beltline ponds every day. I've seen kayakers there and some folks in jon boats from time to time. Not sure what they're catching but there is definitely some fishing going on. If I get a kayak this year I'll be checking it out too!

Oh and Synergy lake does actually have fish in it. It is a mudhole as well but you may be surprised from time to time at the bass that bite in between the bluegill. I used to work near there and guys would hit it every so often after work. Be ready to work a little bit.

i posted on another thread but wanted to post here too....i caught a dozen nice cats there last fall. my family and i had them for dinner the next night and we all got incredibly sick...water quality is real bad. all i caught were in the back part by the toll plaza...never fished under the bridge. just putting my personal warning out there
