Ok so unlike many of you I am unfortunate enough to own my own personal boat. Now this is not really an issue to me since I love fishing on or off a boat. My question is, how do I go upon making a name for myself (i.e. getting team staffed and the like) from just the bank? I do not really want to burden someone who is tournament fishing from a boat, I am just curious as to how I can possibly pick up some endorsments or possibly be a field tester. I know it's a long shot but my mind is wandering right now and this is what I have come across. Thanks for your time in reading and/or replying.

I would look into fishing coangler or proam style tournaments. Having success in any competition will open a few doors and you will also be able to gain experience and meet different people in the industry
I fished as a co for 4 years in the BWS and this is my first year to fish on the boater side

Well see that's my problem is that I just so happen to live in San Antonio so I am stuck mainly fishing ponds and creeks, and being a college student I don't have time to fish tournaments. Working for college sucks too because I normally don't get off work until 2 in the morning and I normally work weekends exclusively. I am not negating negative criticism, because if it can't happen, well hey I still love to fish and have fun doing so.

In time young grasshopper... in time. you have to beat somebody to be somebody.
Bass fishing is like a 30,000 acre golf course with no flags and five holes you can't see- Tim

I can't stress to you enough the importance of school. You're obviously on the right track and have a good head on your shoulders. I would just suggest keeping it up. That degree will get you a lot farther than fishing will. And who knows, maybe you can utilize your degree in the fishing world?
My point is that your education should be your main focus and it appears that it is. On your spare time visit your local boat and tackle dealers. Make sure you go into it with a "what can I do for you" attitude instead of a "what can they do for me" frame of mind. Once these folks see that you're passionate about working for them, they'll start working for you.
It's going to be baby steps and a slow boat to China, but with the right amount of determination, attitude, and hard work it can happen.
Good luck to you young man. I wish you the best.

Yea school definately outweighs fishing, and its funny that you bring that up. I am debating between marine biology and nursing. Of course I will probably go through the medical field because it will always be needed and more jobs available. But I must say I would rather do what I love rather than what I need. But yes school is NUMBER ONE, family is NUMBER ONE, fishing is number three. Thank you Jake for the help. As well as Git and Fish. I appreciate all of youre criticism. Hopefully one day we'll all be fishing together catching 10+lb hawgs. Thanks guys.

Get your 2 year degree as a Associates in Nursing, sit for NCLEX and become a RN. You will only have to work 3 days per week (12 hour shifts) to be full time and get all the benefits (Insurance / 410K / etc). Then you can stay on the water 4 days per week with your boat (buy for yourself as graduation present) and live your dream an then you can start making a name for yourself.

Finish school, get degree, get nice bass boat, win some big tournies.......then you can be Mr. Perstaffer! Until then, fish the ponds and creeks and be happy.

North American Fisherman www.fishingclub.com is looking for field testers.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know when to go fishing.

I have had some luck just emailing hundreds of companies and got a few responses for endorsements and "sponsorships" Some gave me field testing opportunities, some gave me some free stuff and discounts. All you can do is ask.
