seems Capt Dean got in some cow YFT on a 12 hour fishing some shrimp boats.. remarkble!! story is on 2cool site. had another one 125# boated and several others broken off.. (under-geared). They think the 125# was the baby of the group....

Makes your mouth water. Yesterday we had something (?yellowfin) take 200 yards off running without breathing I think, on a trolling rig before it came off. Swivel broke !!! Here is the Capt Dean post.

hey redkiller- Definitely register at 2Cool to view the report and pictures!

Behind a shrimp boat, on a 12-hour trip, they got hit by some very big Yellowfin Tuna!

The biggest they boated was a 186# bruiser!

People always wonder about what rigs to bring on trips, and don't want to bring too many etc, but this proves the Boy Scouts' motto: "Always Be Prepared". LMAO

Rick..... actually the catch for the boat was fairly decent. Not shown are a number of limits of solid (big not big) red snappers and some beeliners. I had a limit of red snapper and a beeliner of abour 4 pound along with a mahi. We only bottom fished for an hour or so. Keep in mind that the crowd was light and the boat was 'tied up' for about 3 hours easy while some of us played with tuna. smile

Lost in the excitement is the Blackfin in the center. It was huge. I caught a 27 pounder a few weeks ago and I know this one was much bigger. But next to the shark and two yellowfins you'd never know it.

I can't ID the shark. Could be a small bull maybe.
