Is there a Doctor on the boat ? I was considering bringing an industrial size first aid kit and maybe a suture kit. What is avaiable on board the Big E in the way of first aid supplies ? Thanks MO (RPh)

Great-- I am a pharmacist and have spent some time in ER's , but will gladly turn over any first aid duties to the Good Doctor. MO

In my defense Rick, I was fishing on the front of the boat, not sleeping........at that particular time-though I did sleep more than 50% of the time on that trip . And, there really wasn't anything else to say or do-push it thru and cut it off. And Ragman had already done that by the time I got to the guy(thanks Rag). and lastly-when in Rome do like the Romans, when on vacation-vacate. I try my hardest to not practice unless I am at work. So, if you are dying, someone holler for me and I will coordinate cpr/advise the land-based doctor ( that the helicopter will be taking you to) what is going on, administer any meds available that might be helpful, etc.. If you need a bandage.....I can't remember the last one I put on a patient-a nurse or ems person will be much more help. If you are hurting somewhere-get tough, this world is so full of pus..'s. if it looks broke-splint it. it not quit worrying about it. if you get cut clean it. if bad cut clean it and tape it shut (if in the middle of nowhere).if seasick-sorry, I've heard its miserable but there won't be anything I can do. Fever-try tylenol or motrin and wait 3-4 days and 98% of the time you will be fine. cough/cold/congestion:wait one to two weeks after the boat gets back and if still sick see your doctor-or not. there really isn't a whole lot to this offshore medicine stuff-at least not that I can think of. I am saying this jokingly but if there is something seriious going on I can take a look but without tools-not much I can do.

DRfishalot...to funny, in the Army I was given combat medic training just before going into Iraq and one of my instructors said almost the exact same thing. the only thing he added is if you couldnt get the guy to stop screaming hit him with a shot of morphine, then he wouldnt care how many holes he had.

I much prefer Psychiatry. Thats why we formed Shirnk's Inc., Woodlands, Texas. It's thriving in its 13th year now. Now don't take this the wrong way but we are not in the least bit interested in helping Crazy clients. As a matter of fact we won't eve naccept appointments. Our specialty is Kept Women. A Kept Woman is one that usually dosn't look too bad if she lives in a upperend neighborhood such as ours. Her husband maks plenty of money but is at work all the time so he can keep on making lots of money. His kept Woman is afraid to get a boyfriend cause she knows perfectly well that Good Dogs Don't Kill Sheep Close To Home. So she plays tennis at the club, drives the kids around until they leave the nest. and shop for their quite Gaudy House that most of the contractors are building today. Then there is church for those that want to be Devinely Kept Women. There are a million little mundane things these women can do to occupy their time but in the end they all fall victim to the same curse. No one listens, especially Hubby. The Pastor dosn't listen cause he has a bunch of real crazies he has to watch over. The hair dresser dosn't want to hear cause she's heard it all a thousand times over. The UPS guy has a schedule to keep, all her transient neighbors don't ever get close to learn any more than what her husbands title at work is, and quite frankly, no one really gives a Rat's ***. In Steps Shrink's Inc. We will listen to this trival **** all day long for $350 per hour. We have no answers in our business. All we have to do is rephrase their dumb *** questions and then ask them right back to them in a way that they can answer them themselves. Piece of cake. They sign the bill and walk out content to remain Kept for another couple weeks to a month, depending on the degree of their curse. Their husbands never complain about our bills cause we are worth a fortune to them. We always say "I'am OK, Your OK, if the checks OK". That is in our Mission Statement. Now to answer your question about the Docs on Board. Ricks right DrShark is a Quack. He dosn't practice it anymore because he has earned an even higher degree in BS. BS is ten times more fun for two reasons. Usually, as in my case I can Afford to BS and as long as I BS, I don't have to listen too anyone else's BS. LIFE IS GREAT IN WOODLANDS , TEXAS. If you can't eat it, drink it, make love to it, or fish for it, don't even think about discussing it with me. Now to the Important S***. Wheres Bazztex's $100on those Sissy Poppers? That Ladies and Gentlemen is where the real BS lies. Yours Truly and Stonned Forever on Life. Drshark

Shark, I received a masters degree in BS decades ago. I learned a long time ago, that it is hard to BS a BS-er. You stay on the bow, and I'll stay on the stern. Everybody inbetween will suffer.

drshark fishes the stern, untill he hooks a tuna.... then he brings the dang thing to the bow so the deckhands can try their hardest to gaff it off the line in the dark spots...
i cant count how many times shark shows up on the bow on tbb after hooking up in the stern...

All right Vance, if Bazz is willing, I'm taking your $100 wager (if you're cool with it TOO)!
It's my only way that I can see to quasi participate in this once-in-a-lifetime trip that I'm not on!
Are we on?
EDIT: Never mind! I just read the next thread and saw that Bazz took the Vance's wager! Dang it! Good luck guys and may the best popper and popper thrower win!
