I fish Ray Bob, mostly for sandies, but would like to try targeting cats. I have caught some by mistake, but don't know what is the best way if that is what I am really after.

Where should we fish? What should we use for bait?

Any help is appreciated.

Use fresh shad for bait on a santee cooper rig. Fish wind blown banks 2' to 6' of water, brush and willows are good places.

Punch bait under a slip bobber in the timber is a deadly approach to catching channel catfish on Ray Bob. Throw in some soured wheat in they are tough not to catch.

Fish the same areas that you've been sandbass fishing just switch over to catfish bait. Cut shad or perch should do the trick. Brush piles where the crappie hang out are'nt bad places either.
