Let me see if I understand the Calcutta, other than it being a city in India. Let's say fisherman A is bid to $20, B=$10, C=$30, D=$20, and E=$20. There would be $100 in the pot, and if A caught winning fish, the bidder on A would win the $100?

TxEagle, Marlin and sails count however it is quite unlikely any of those species will be caught on this trip. There would be no releasing of these as Mcgolfer likes Both for lunch prior to making trips to or through Dallas to come down and fish. Now you understand. Jump in, its not big money, not yet anyway. At least bet $25 on yourself just for fun. Skeeter Ronnie should up his to $25. Its downright shameful to sell yourself for a measly $10.My reputation alone is worth more than that. Doc

Sailfish wouldn't win the pot anyway. Your lucky to pick a 60 pounder in the gulf. My last 10 have averaged about 50 lbs. The Atlantic species is little. The odds of catching a blue on a head boat is not good. Drifting live bonita's with a bridle setup does work, but that won't happen on Cinco.

I have seen one marlin caught on a Dolphin Docks safari trip. It was about 3 years ago. It wasn't a big one, maybe 120#, and it wasn't killed, but they are out there. This ofcourse was on the Dolphin out of PA and some of the guys were trolling on the way out. I know the BigE is faster and we won't be trolling. I also know it's not likely but if you hold your tongue just right, you never know.

well, like mo i have no reputation- except maybe as a 'sleeper' it seems. but i did drag myself out of bed long enough to take 3rd place in BOTH categories on the halloween charter last year. 3rd largest tuna and non-tuna. and i caught and gave to txseadog the bait that he used to catch the largest tuna. and seems i had largest tuna on the gem trip last year with the likes of mcgolfer, tj, rag, bret, tpope, etc.. and..... i don't think that those well known thoroubreds [sp] that drshark is betting on will be in the money, except maybe stxfisherman. bret's wife always catches bigger fish than him it seems so don't waste your money. kilsong will get his share and then some prob but jigging likely won't catch the money fish-tuna anyway. those c.c. guys may be in the running. some people may be to drunk.....my chances are looking better and better. i doubt anyone will bet on me and they shouldn't, and i admittedly have recently lost interest in this fishing thing for some reason lately and don't understand or know why. so for the minimum bet, i'll bet on myself, and if i can stay out of bed- and if i have my usual fishing luck-believe me i am in the top ten. 10 dollars bet on drfishalot

Yep- Kevin's was a beauty at an even #120, but like Galv said, wasn't in the pot! I don't think he cared though.
I had the 108#, and the next two were in the 90's.
That big AJ Rex caught was huge! He's a big guy and in the pic, it seemed as long as he was tall.
On the Halloween trip though, we had many contenders that paid to be in the pot, but for some reason DID NOT follow through and weigh their fish!
Remember, you have to weigh it if you're in the pot, regardless of the size. You never know who won't show up.
Remember Alan?

I missed getting some pot money by only a couple of pounds last year. Gonna try again this year.
As for the Calcutta, I'll buy myself and Chris for 10 bucks a piece.

You guys are too funny. I'll put some money on... Jerry Tom Richard and Scott. I've seen 'em fish... I'll put some money on DrShark too because us old pharts need to stick together. Always get in the pot guys. Several years back I won a $110 pot on the Capt. Casey with a 4 pound red snapper. Who'da thunk? I think that may be some sort of record. A necessary rule for pot keeping .... All possible pot winning fish should have their mouths taped shut with duct tape and the person catching it must turn in all their big (8oz, 12oz) egg sinkers to the appointed Official Big Egg Sinker Keeper...
