The lakes in San angelo or Colorado city are about the closest serious fisherman usually go to Ivie or Allen Henry.

Odessa isnt a good spot to live if you like to fish. Your gonna be looking at 2-3 hr drive to find a lake that has any water in it! Good luck with new job..dont get blown away out here in west tx!

Welcome to our extremely windy neck of the woods (did I say woods?). I live just down the road in Midland. You're going to have to travel at least 1 1/2 hours to get to a decent lake. Champion Creek just south of Colorado City is a nice lake but I haven't had too much luck catfishing there. They did stock a mess of blues in 2008 and 2009. Colorado City lake is dry! Never been to Alan Henry, since I'm a "catch and eat" guy I can't handle the Mercury warning for the lake. Fort Phantom in Abilene and Twin Buttes in San Angelo are the next closest and as someone mentioned, Oak Creek is also a couple of hours. Give me a hollar when you get out this way. I'd love to meet you and talk some catfishing.
