I have a 2000 model Mercury 225 optimax. Its not getting over 2500 rpm on take off, and will not break plane, but some times it will. Their are no service centes in south east NM. Ive checked the ignition and all cylinders are fireing. Any info would be helpful.

Do you realy need the big motor out there in Carlsbad? I picture you fishing from your front deck, with the boat in your driveway. I did not think there was any water out there. Anyways, it sounds like a fuel prob. Have you changed the fuel filter? Also I would run some sea foam in the gas next fill up. Just my 2 cents.

what color fuel line do you have ? If its grey you probably have issues with the fuel line coming apart inside from the ethanol. Try replacing the line ,fuel filter , vapor separator. The grey line is bad about coming apart due to the ethanol.
