I caught a bass today with three large black spots on it, one was quarter sized and the other two slightly smaller, does that classify it as a spotted bass, or is it a reg black bass that just happened to have spots, they reminded me of redfish spots and one was on the tail just like a redfish.

the Spot is my favorite largemouth/black bass of em all, prettiest, second only to the smallie in fighting ability. LUV catchin' 'em!

How can you tell the difference between spotted and regular large mouth bass? That looks like a regular one to me...

I've caught big bass before with big black spots on there body and head. Does that mean they are spotted?

The picture on top is a largemouth, not a spotted bass. A spotted bass has continuous lines of small but distinct spots along its belly. The "spotted" designation has nothing to do with the large black spots. The spotted bass also has two tongue patches. Also, the jaw on a spotted does mot extend past the eye.

It's a spot.
