Folks, the decision was not hard to make. They didn't want to risk it and nether did I. They got a couple of midweek November dates open around T-giving and also in early December. After that all of January and all of Feb is open. Victor was even open to running our trip in the early spring right after Snapper season opens, or right before. He said the tuna are there all year at the Spars, but I'd like some input on the tuna bite from those that have been out there in the winter/early spring. So let get an idea of when to re-schedule.
****Also Victor mentioned there were a couple of spots open on a private 48 hour charter departing Tuesday, I believe, of this coming week. Those interested might call and see about that trip.******

Poof... pushed the wrong button and my last msg went bye bye. Im up for a reschedule anytime. from what i've heard/read/seen posted tuna at the spars is decent year round and excelent november-february. I'd have to say reschedule it at the first open date in Janruary. That way if it gets bumped by a cold front its not that big of a deal. I think the Jan.-Feb. time frame is the best because the only weather your dealing with is the weekly-biweekly cold fronts. not the constant spring time southeast wind. How about the 7-8-9 of Jan its a new moon which is good! tuesday's fcst looks worse than todays lol. dont think that'd be a good 1 to go on.

Well , I was already gone by the time this decision was made . I would personally prefer after jan 1 sometime . I am still in . I just bought 2 80# rods and a 6/0 Penn . I NEED to use them . I can go on a short notice . give me atleast a week . I spent 2 1/2 days in CC and Port A . There was a lot of fish caught by a few people . Yes, I am haveing redfish for dinner today :p . seen a lot of fish caught out on PINS . Caught my share . Mostly u/s . also , talked to Rick at offshore adventures Sat. morning (they cancel too) . They have a 12 hr trip every Wed. . Been catching a few tuna and some BIG amberjack . I am gonig to watch the wave reports and make a trip with them . leave after work on tuesday sleep behind their building in truck . Go fishing . drive home that evening . be back at work Thur. Anyway . I still had a good time this weekend . BTW- I found a mexican restarunt on staples called Rosoritas. The BEST . EXCELLANT food at GREAT prices .

Well decided to hit Shreveport(Harrahs and Hollywood) Sat evening for a little while. Gilrfriend came home with $30 more than she took, and I came home with $1408 more than I took!!!! Hit a progessive slot, looked at my girlfriend and told her to tell me how much!!! I could have sworn I saw 1.5 million - I couldnt look. It was only 1,005. Was fun anyways!!! A good turn around for the disappointment of not fishing!!! Sizzlin 7s were good to me!!!! Played for about 5 hours on slot machines only.

Congratz. at least it was a profitable eve considering you should have been bustin some tuna hedz A 30 wide 2 speed should be more than adequate for what you'll encounter in the gulf. A 30sw can be blueprinted to fish 150. Plenty of line capacaity. Not as heavy as the 50. Easier to do the tuna dance around the boat and able to handle as much drag as one can pull against giant AJ. It's a joy to fish the smaller version all day long. If ya'll feel otherwise, please inform me. Still insist on a 50, I've got a 50TW 2 speed blueprinted for 150 with spectra backing that is just looking for a home.
