 Cabela's opening up in allen in 14 days!!!

I wanted to see what folks thought about the new Cabela's opening up in Allen. I got a flyer in the mail saying opening day is the 14th on April. I have been to the one in FW one time and thought it was ok. Kinda the same as BPS. What are ya'll thoughts? Did like the Bargain cave or cove or whatever it is called.

Hopefully you wont be as dissapointed in yours as we are at the one on our side of town. Pretty basic lure/tackle selections
Bargan Cave is hit or miss, but atleast they have it.

Just another place to go look around, then go buy what you need from Academy. Cabela's is just Bass Pro that sells much better boats.

That is too funny. I was thinking the same thing and I have two Academys close by me. One just north and the other just south. I spend a crazy amount of time and money there already.

I live in Allen and I am excited they are coming. When you have to drive 40 or 50 miles each way it make you appreciate them coming to town.

you wont see dobyns rods at academy or bass pro  Looking forward to another big store opening nearby! I heard there are gonna be some neat folks at the grand opening! I believe Gary Dobyns will be there, along with some staffers from Dobyns. I will be at college and will have to miss this, and that sucks!

Yup Ronnie I will be headed down to texas for the opening with Gary as well as for U S Reel and NUMA Sport Optics. It will be a fun weekend

My dad was a big game and a bird hunter. we grew up hunting mulies, pronghorn antelope, quail, geese etc. He has always liked Cabelas for outdoor products better than bps.
Being a fisherman I love bass pro, but i have to say, on things like camping gear, clothing, and general outfitting.. Cabelas is head and shoulder over BPS for quality and value,but they dont have the inventory of tackle, rods, reels etc on the shelves that BPS does for fishing.

I really doubt having a Cabelas closer will make me visit it any more often. High prices and terrible selection. I'll go to Academy.

I am not sure whether I or my 4 year old son is more excited to have it open up since it is only 1.5 miles from my house also. Only thing I am really bummed about is it will not have a boat sales/maintenance department for my Ranger! I read they expect this Cabela's location to be one of the most profitable in the country given the location. If that is true, why the heck didn't they go all out and put a larger store there?
One thing I like for sure about Cabela's, they seem to discount their seasonal stuff much more than I've seen from Bass Pro. It's all about timing.
Hey, at a minimum, I won't have to travel 30 mins. to Bass Pro to let my son watch the bass being fed at the tank!
