Are there any apps that you guys have found to be very useful while fishing? ie: GPS or Topo maps for your favorite lakes? I know I can get range finders for golf that map out the course but didn't know if there is such a thing that will help the rookie fisherman.

Thanks for the info.

I use most of my apps prior to the fishing trip for planning. Navionics Lakes South gives great lake map detail. It will work on the lake with GPS showing your position - Cost about $13. Weather - Radar Now and WindAlert are good to check while on the lake - The Weather Channel is good for forecast. Google Earth is great to look at aerial view of the lake - find ramps, roads, parking areas, bridges, general shape of lake areas, etc. I use the browser to internet the lake level.

+1 on Navionics Lake South. I bought this along with a suction mount dash holder for my GPS navigation and love it, just have to keep the phone dry grin. I also use Time2Fish, Bass Master Pro Tips (interesting reading) and Gas/Oil mix app.

this is probably a stupid question but are there any FREE apps that are worth anything? I may get the Navionics later but I need to learn all the capabilities of my Lowrance unit and figure out how to read it. Like I said I am really new to this so bear with me...

Thanks

I have the Navionic on my DroidII and like it. I don't usually buy apps for the phone. I bought this on and use it from time to time, studying lake maps when waiting for something or someone.

Anyone have any app ideas? I know there are a couple of fishing trip summary type apps but does anyone have anything other ideas they'd care to share?

I like Knot Wars, popular knots for mono, braid and flouro along with breaking strengths.
