When will you be there? I'll be there for the first time from the 20th - 24th. I will try the jetties and get a party boat also.

Cruise the beach (requires 4 wheel drive) and you might find some jack-fish or bonita (look for birds working the bait). The kingfish action near the jetties has been decent also.

I will be there last week of July. I won't bring my boat but would like to wade into the Laguna Madre. Any ideas where to access it from the island and where any good spots are?

Try wading from Holly beach. Its not well marked but you should be able to figure out where it is from a fishing hot spots map. You can wade out and fish the flats around there, we've slayed the reds in that area before.

Give me some time to find a map and then ill explain where its at on the map because its not marked well. (If you have a fishing hotspot map for the laguna madre it should be on there.

Here is a link to a map i found.

It is a big place for kiteboarding but if its not a windy day you should be alright. Good luck.

Great map texassurferdude, thanks a bunch for the info. I have a buddy who used to do field work down in the Laguna Madre tell me he thought he would see lots of people fishing the South Bay but didn't know if there was access to it except by boat. Any Idea?

You can go through Brownsville and take a 4 wheel drive down there but the action is less consistent than holly beach.
Id give you 75% chances at Holly and 50% chances at South bay. The trip is pretty hard on vehicles also (never actually gone but ive seen cars there).

I wont give up my secrete wade fishing spots but I will tell you a few lures that have been killing them all summer. Top waters at dawn and dusk. Electric chicken assassins. Red fish magic by strike king(good for trout as well)
