I'm heading up next weekend for a couple days of fishing. I've done OK on Spillway creek, EH, and Lost Creek. I've never tried zone 2. Couple of questions:
1. What are good flies for this time of year (both zone 1 & 2)
2. Any strategies for success in zone 2?

Take a wading staff and a friend. The rocks are slicker than snakesh*t down there.

I've done well with little clousers and white woolly buggers after they stop generating. When the march browns are hatching, they can sometimes be pretty thick in zone 2 and you can do really well with them too.

Google up Rob Woodruff's fishing reports for more intelligence than I can offer.

Take my word for it on the wading staff, though.

at zone 2, felt and cleats are good. in the summer, an egg above a midge, a wooly bugger, or a grizzly hackle (is that the red bead head looking thing)can be hard to beat, theyll hit the bottom fly, but w/o the egg, your catch rate goes way down.
zone 2 hasnt been good in a while, and the water gets too warm down there a lot of times in the summer, id advise to stay away from zone 2. zone 3 is better.

Unless you feel like really workin' hard, skip z2 on bluebird days and/or when the water is falling and stick to the creeks. If there's any cloud cover (or if you just need to escape the crowds), give it a shot. Bring a nice soft hackle assortment

If you haven't spent much time in z2 keep an eye out for the stocking tubes... quick/easy way to narrow down your options in the big water.
