Went to rapids. Blues showing up good now. Also caught a thirteen inch crappie. Hmm interesting just when i was gonna quit going. Now i dont know if the crappie are gonna be there like last year just later. Fifty nice whites also thirteen inches. A few more females than before still have eggs. Wow. This was my step son and his friend. Said whites still good as ever.

No surprise there, as I've caught them as late as mid April and I had the river to myself!

Only river I know of that you can catch white bass from Christmas thru the month of April and probably beyond! It was a pretty well kept secret until just the last few years when the internet fishing reports came along.

Please I don't mean it in a negative way, so don't anyone take offense, I'm just thinking out loud about how things were, and stating fact, and times do change!

Jimbo, your so right!! I'm a case and point of your post! I've never fished Nueces until this year after finding the river and it's productivity on this forum. I'm actually glad I did, and try to pay it forward with my own reports and findings.

No offense taken!

Another way to look at it. With more fisherman on the Nueces, it may be less pressure on the Guadalupe and Medina runs. I was hammering the Guad the year before I heard about the Nueces. Pretty much left the Guad alone last year.

True. sad thing about medina is that I'm thinking that the low catches this year are due to the fact that the lake has been so low for so long. It may be that the Whites have not had a fully successful spawn there in the last 2-4 years, and we may be looking at the results. fewer fish on the traditional spawning areas and smaller fish when u do find them. I could be wrong, but the theory fits what I've seen and read about in this forum and in person. Anyone else got an opinion on this theory?

The Nueces is usually very low. Therefore big boats are limited. This year river is up but big boats still cant get to prime areas. So if you work hard enough or want em bad enough or want to fish by yourself you just pull thru the shallows and keep on movin. Further you go less people more fish virgin water. And trust me it worked twenty times this year.

This is how far I've gone...The last point is 8.5 miles. All spots marked produced fish for me, with the last one being a 3-4 foot deep section.

Haven't heard much at all about san miguel this year. last reports were about 3-4 weeks ago and most talked about lots of undersized fish.
