Before this bait, soft plastics had to resemble some sort of creature that existed in the water.
Ummm...hate to break it to you, but the Brush hog is still one of the better crawfish imitators out there...sorry, but it DOES imitate something... It imitates a lot of things and nothing at all at the same time. It's an Impressionistic bait. If the bite calls for fish studying a bait or eating a specific forage, probably not the lure ya wanna lead with. But, if they are gorging or feeding at a certain depth no matter what's there or bulk and size is more important than actually imitating the actual forage, then a brush hawg will get the job done.

#1 - Yamamoto Senko #2 - Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver #2B - I think a drop shot rig needs to be in there somewhere. #3 - Heddon's Zara Spook #4 - Oldham's Eye Max Jig (because of the screw lock and the mega weights) #5 - Zoom Fluke #6 - Bill Lewis's Rattle Trap #7 - Rapala's DD series crankbaits #8 - Omega's Football Jig #9 - Strike King Spinnerbait #10 - Chatterbait #11 - Lucky Craft Live Pointer #12 - Gitzit Tubes #13 - Shaky head jig #14 - Zoom French Fry #15 - Hollow Body Swimbait #16 - Stanley's Ribbit Frog #17 - Watermelon and Pumpkin Pepper colors (not a lure but critical to present day bass fishing major change from red and purple) #18 - Smithwick Rogue #19 - Mepps Spinner #20 - I guess this one is already decided.

Influential?
The Senko has a ton of imitators. Still only one Senko though. It hasn't been around as long as some of the others, but in the last 15 or so years, it's done some real damage.
