Happen to have a photo of the fish you mean? 'Skipjack' is kind of a regional name used to describe different fish ... if its the fish I think you mean, we don't don't have it here.

I caught what the locals called a 'skipjack' with a cast net in Little Mineral a couple of years ago. It looked like you described. About ten inches long. Some called it a 'goldeye'.

Try Ta Da Ta Da point on the southeastern part of the northern end. If there not there, then they may have relocated.

Yes we catch Skipjack below Texoma at the tail race(Denison Dam) last few year haven't caught as many... great cut bait and live bait for Striper..... normaly catch them on small crappie jigs tied 2 or 3 on at a time, small road runners, and even trout super dupers..... put up a great fight on lite tackle and they do look like a mini trapon and will put on a heck of a show when jumping...

skipjack is an excellent bait both live and cut. You will catch all kinds of fish on the cut bait. Blue cats love it. Most skippies are caught below dams where there is good current and good oxygen in the water. Throw a Flitterbait and burn it back. They love to see very fast moving lures. You can't reel fast enough to get them to bite. I've tried to reel sibiki rigs as fast as I can and still get bit. You might as well forget about keeping them alive in a bait tank. they just dont do well. They all end up as cut bait. If you can keep them alive they make excellent live bait for big stripers.
