There are so many, which one to choose ? My wife and friends are heading down to Cabo San Lucas in mid July and need some info on billfishing. Do we book once we get down there or need to book now ?
Does anyone have any suggestions on which captain or particular outfit ? I have read some responses back from March and a few were going in May, but i did not see anything on thier return trips ? Did you have any luck ?
Any info would greatly be appreciated.

check out www.flyhooker.com her name is Mary, I have been out on them twice and has been pretty good. Another one is www.jcsportfishing.com he can hook you up with a boat, even if it isn't his, both companies are really good.

Are there any cheap charters down there?
I will be going tin the next year. I'm a little leary about getting one just by walking the docks like I was told you could for cheap.

Bigcat2, I would definately avoid the docks. In February I was down and I made the mistake of walking the docks. Cheap boat, Good Captain, sucky First Mate. Saw 8 Marlin on surface in 5 hours. 2 times the first mate casted to the wrong side of the boat. Not a single cast landed withing 20 yrds of a fish. Finally after all the missed opportuninties we got one on trolling. Went the year before and booked the Dorado Fleet and had a much better experience, if you are gonna be thrifty you will end up paying in the end.
I would recomend two: Dorado Pisces (mainly for the preservation of CPR)

How much cheaper was it off the docks? I will not be fishing for marlin(maybe a little) I'd prefer tuna then big sharks and ling.
I will most likely get one good charter then if I have enough money left a cheap one.
How are the seas there? I noticed they had the smaller boats for under 200 for 8 hours.

The smaller boats for 200 are pangas and mainly used for near shore fishing. Both times I have been there I was more than happy to be on a larger boat with 6-8 footers rolling. Spent 350 on the last one I took and a year earlier it was 450 to go with Dorado but well worth it. Look up allaboutcabo.com for more info and fishing reports.

you get what you pay for in cabo. got a cheap boat, the captain was so hungover i drove most of the day, spotted one large black marlin, cappy hit it in the head with the bait! zero fish and the idiot asked for a tip! i think the group under the Solmar tag is a good bunch.
so much water, so little time
