I am looking for a new reel in the $100-$150 price range. I like the Shimano Citica, but was wondering if anyone has any experience with it or knows of one they like better for the price range. Thanks

The Citica is a very good reel for the price.

Citicas are good reels and I have a few of them and have had no problems. Check eBay and if you search around you can almost get 2 for $150. I bought one lash yr that needed repair for I think $60 and it cost $20 to get fixed.

Check eBay. You can find a reel that normally goes $150 to $200 retail down in your price range. Lots of options new or used.

the Citica feels real cheap to me..i bought one awhile back and iono it just feels cheap...ABU garcia revo s or sx feels like i have something in my hand that is about to do some work. I own many of the reels in the revo line and i can say they stand up to the test of time.

Shimano is the way to go.... if you start forking over $250+ go with Daiwa. Over 300 Shimano Core's. Over $400 Steez. Over that... well I'll never want to spend more than that for a reel lol.

I bought a brand new orra sx for about 70 and a revo sx slightly used for 115 on ebay, really like both of them. The h2o mettle is also really nice for 50, it feels kinda cheap to me(maybe just subconscious)but its very light weight and performs well.

Float on..

I have two of the Citica's and they have both been very good. Have had no problems with either. Bought them both at Academy when they were selling a Citica and an All-Star rod ($60) for $139. Pretty good deal I'd say. Have had both rigs for 3 years with no problem on rod or reel.

^^^ Agreed. People look at Citica e and is like "Man, only 4 bearings? Screw that." They are work-horses and they hold up to a lot of abuse. I have 4 and all have 50 - 65 lb braid on it. I know I am not catching 10 lb'ers like you guys, but we use 1 oz. jigs to get to deep mil-foil spots. Pulling up 5 lbs of mil-foil with the jig constantly puts a lot of abuse on the reel.

Citica E is an awesome reel. Hands-down.
