The day started off promising with a good overcast, low wind that picked up by about 9:00am for those that drift. But, by 12:00 the wind died, and the temperature rose quickly, then the clouds broke and it was 90+ degrees in March, go figure. There seemed to be plenty of cats to catch, but no big real big ones were found. 12 teams came out to fish, making this our biggest tournament of the season.
1st Place went to team 2 Ol' Cats, John Anderjeski and Joel Willis with a weight of 19.44 pounds, winning $168.
2nd Place went to Team Reel Rednecks member Bobby Ingram with a total weight of 17.38 pounds winning $101.
3rd Place went to the team of Jesse Jackson and Mike Cox with a weight of 17.06 pounds, winning $67 and a pack of 50 no-roll weights from Chase of Weights by Chase.
4th Places went to Team Jolly Green, Lonnie Haffelder and Roy Otto with a weight of 15.52 pounds, winning a pack of 50 no-roll weights from Chase of Weights by Chase. Lonnie also caught the big fish at 5.38 pounds winning $220.
This was a good tournament and I really want to thank our sponsors' Chase from Weights by Chase, Cliff Hill of Hill Country Fishin' Guide Service, The Boat shop, and Catfish Designs.
I also want to throw out another special thanks to those that made our raffle a great success; Cliff Hill who donated 75% off a river trip for two, Oscar who donated a Certificate for 10% off a ProAngler reel (for the raffle plus two certificates for the tournament), Lonnie for the fishing gear donated, and Harold, from The Boat Shop for donating an impeller and lube job, thanks guys!!
This was our final tournament of the season, and we awarded our top 3 teams after the tournament.
The Points champions with 137.53 are Team 2 Ol' Cats, John Anderjeski and Joel Willis.
Second Place goes to Team Reel Rednecks, Bobby Ingram and Garry Miller with 94.68 pounds.
and Third Place goes to the team of Jim and James Pearson with 60.24 pounds.
Congratulations to all the teams and thanks for making our first season a success! Though this is the end of our points season, we have many more things to come, a wounded warriors trip, a over night flathead trip, and a youth tournament.
