Is there any reason to try and fish in a channel? Does the deeper water make any difference? If so how(fish size, species)? Also what bait would you suggest i use? Sorry for all of the questions but im realy exited to try it as my friend went and said they somehow cought bigger fish

P.S.-I am planning on trying to fish Kemah Channel if it makes any difference

-Thanks in advance!

Ive been catchin' alot of reds on crab and cut mullet/croaker in packery channel. Dont use finger mullet though, only big mullet. If youve got a cast net its alot cheaper than buying bait but more work. If you like night fishin' you can use just about anything. I love to catchin' those trout at night on poppin' corks and speck rigs.
Good Luck,

Since you are all ready in Seabrook, If I had to pick one or two spots close to you, I would either fish the pier down on the dike with the lights or on the right side going out there. The other place for bank fishing would be the end of the road at the south jetty. You may have to take your own lantern for light, but have had good luck down there. May even want to turn right at the end of the road and drive out on the jetty a ways. There is a deep area down there. Just look for the cars on the left side of the road. Cut bait, squid or shirmp for bait. Have had better luck with the cut mullet at nignt.

I told my "X" she was fat...she said she was "big boned", told her I had never seen a fat skeleton...hence..my "X". Now, I fish, therefore I eat.

el lago, dont waste ur time in the kema chanel, all you will catch ic hardhaed , small black drum and the seemingly random red, right out side the chanel ,behind the board walk, all the fish markets have pilings around their shops, if you go there when it starts to get colder you can have a blast catchin BIG black drum.

just my .02

Rod and reel: $124.00

1 pint of shrimp: $6.50

Braging about all the fish you cought: priceless
