i agree, jigs are cheaper and I'm learning pretty quick how to jig. I just get frustrated when I get hung up in brush/cover. Huess as my skills get better I'll learn how to avoid doing that.

4$!!!!!!! That is insane. Catch some Perch, and use Cut-Bait.
Works Better for the Larger Crappie.
Thanks Bittercreek

+1 on the jigs Martin. I had to force myself to go out with jigs and no minnows one day and it worked. You will have a little more confidence in them once you catch the first fish. No more minnows for me. If the fish are there they will bite jigs just as good as minnows. IMO

$4 a dozen = about .33 cents each. I can make a jig for somewhere around a dime. Minnows very seldom last past the first fish but I have caught many many fish on the same jig. Jigs don't die on you either. But the making your own jigs concept can be addicting and costly if you over do it.
Waxahachie was 8.10 for 1/2 pound a couple weeks ago but the man at the minnow store said they would be going up due to fuel costs.

A good day fishing is not losing a jig, a bad day fishing is not losing a minnow!

FYI for Lewisville area:
There is a fellow that sells minnows wholesale.
smallest he will sell is a pound at a time.
On Mill street in Lewisville just south of the golf course
on the east side.

Thank your friendly oil company. Those minnows have to get here from the hatchery in Tennessee, and those tankers burn $4.00 a gallon diesel.
