Seems like every day I see new ones that are supposed the be the best. I use the Trilene Knot mostly, Palomar sometimes, Improved Clinch occasionally, and Uni-Knot always, for joining two lines.

I'm going to mess with the Snell this year--for single hooks (worm, Fluke, Senko), and see how that goes.

I could live with a perfectly tied Trilene knot for 99% of my tournamet and general fishing.

I'm a Bassaholic.

You will get a couple of different answers on this. I believe most on this board use Palomar the majority of the time.

I actually use a hybrid Improved Clinch/Trilene most of the time. My partner uses Palomar. I haven't noticed any difference in breaking.

Just be sure to wet before you cinch.

i like the trilene...I think thats what its called.

you loop it through the eye twice and then do a cinch knot back through those loops.

I use a Palomar on everything except for flipping. I started using a Snell knot on the flipping hooks and I think it works way better than a Palomar, at least for that application.

I use a 16/20 knot because that's what my dad taught me to tie 50 years ago. Seen a few test where it wins in the strength test. It is very easy and fast to tie.

For braid to leader I have switched from the double uni to the Albright because I can get a smaller knot which goes through the guides better.

I have used the Trilene knot exclusivly for 40 years becuase it is quick to tie and it holds. Lately I have been tying the Palomar, which I just learned. It too is quick and easy to tie.

IMO any of these knots work fine. I use them all on different applications. The trick is not to over heat the line when you are cinching it down."USE LOTS OF SPIT"

Palomar...especially using flourocarbon, get it wet before cinching.

I use the Trilene myself, a knot some old dog back in Washington state taught me while fishing for salmon.
Here's an interesting site for those of you that want to learn some new ways in tying knots.

Old breed? New breed? There's not a damn bit of difference so long as it's the Marine breed.
