Have you been there before? I wouldn't really throw any dries unless you use a dry/hopper-dropper rig. For nymphs, I've been hearing beadless prince nymphs and attractors of the sort. I would also try some hare's ears. Try some san juan worms and eggs. And if all else fails, whip the streamers out and go deep. Good luck!

If you are fishing the tailwater section for trout, they have been in the river awhile, so you are more likely to catch them by matching the hatch than with big attractors. Small (18-20) midge pupas in black or red, small pheasant tails or RS-2s, if you see any Trico or BWO hatch activity, try small dark nymphs or emergers. As an attractor, try a soft hackle hare's ear, pheasant tail or peacock herl-bodied fly, or maybe a Whitlock Red Fox Squirrel Hair Nymph, size 14-16.

THanks for the input. I need some more allowance haha I dont have a job during school so when im out of cash saved up for summer i dip into my food money for flyfishing haha I need too tie some nymphs. Most of my flies are still water. suppose i need some tying stuff for the river since i live so close while at school. anyways next time i get some food money ill buy coffee and ramen and only go to the cafeteria. Then continue selling myself too the Bass Pro flyfishing department which so rudely placed 2 minutes driving away on easy access.

oh and i should mention im fishing the Guadalupe near Comfort texas which is North of San Antonio about 30 minutes. so ill be well north of the trout.

If you're not going to be in the trout area, the wooly buggers, poppers, clousers, and other bassy things you've been tying from the kit will be fine. River channel cats love wooly buggers drifted along cut out banks or worked aroud snags, and there should be bass of one type or another in the river.

FISH ON!!! ummmmm off

That's a good spot to fish. I may be there myself next weekend. If you tie your own flies, a great fly for that stretch of river is the Cat's Whisker.

Another is the Bull Creek Crayfish:

And the North Fork Whistler:

My recommendations from above.

Not sure about kayak rentals. You may want to check Austin Canoe & Kayak (http://www.austinkayak.com/) on the I-35 frontage road just south of the San Marcos outlet mall or TG Canoe in San Marcos (http://www.tgcanoe.com/), though they may only rent for the San Marcos.

Cibolo Creek is a great little fishery, right in Boerne. It has catch and release fishing for bass, panfish, and Rio Grande cichlids. It fishes best a few days after a good rain, but also fishes well each spring.

Right now I am scheduled to attend a series of meetings in Center Point (near Comfort) next Friday thru Sunday. If I go, I hope to get a bit of free time to fish, but won't know until I get there and check the schedule.
