Caught a few nice 10" gizzards tonight at a boat ramp on Bardwell. And a ton of threadfins. If I am going to fish with those probably Sunday can I just keep them in the fridge or do I need to go a head and freeze them?

I don't like to keep them more than 3-4 days, but I've heard they'll stay fresh for a week or so. Put them in a ziplock bag and drain the fluids off daily. As you probably know, don't put them in water or directly on ice!

Yeah I patted them dry and put them in a ziplock with most of the air pushed out.

Double bag them, or vacum seal them so they don't get wet, bury the bag in ice, you should be fine, don't let them get wet, even putting them in a freezer bag they will get wet, so doouble bag them!!!

Good Luck Derek

This time of the year just catch them the day you go fishing.

Get the Ziploc vacuum bags. You might have to cut the tail off...buy not so much that they are bleeding.

I have never had any luck at freezing them and them being the same when you thaw them. Like Ryan said, just catch when you go fishing, the fish definetly like those better.

From now till next fall I'll catch bait every time I go fishing. All of my leftover frozen shad is going through the grinder for my offshore chum buckets.

That's the plan. Went last week to see if they were holding at the ramps and caught a few. Went yesterday and there was a ton. thumb

Ditto on the plentiful shad. I had more than I needed with one toss of a 5 footer. Plenty of shad but no kittys to eat em. Off the bank at Denton Creek today (Thursday). It was rough fish day I guess. Two leapin lizzard fish and a big drum, fun to catch anyway. Lot was full of trailers, guess they're up the creek.

Yeah at the Mustang Creek ramp. I've caught a bunch at the Love Park ramp too.
