You did the right thing, glad to hear the cops recognized it.

Parks and Wildlife Code 62.0125. Harassment of Hunters, Trappers, and Fishermen
(c) No person may intentionally interfere with another person lawfully engaged in the process of hunting or catching wildlife. Thanks for looking that up. The question would be, then, exactly what constitutes intentional interference. The answer sits somewhere between asking you to leave and assaulting you. I don't know about you, but if I'm trying to enjoy a day of fishing in a civil and respectable manner and multiple squad cars show up, LIT UP, on account of me, well then I'm gonna get the willies real bad. Consequently, at least for a while, my fishing has been intentionally and unjustifiably interfered with. Keep in mind that when one is out of their element and some guy who is, say, hooked up, calls his buddy country cops on ya, things can get real bad real fast. People who calmly stand up for their rights are often abused ruthlessly by law enforcement, who then habitually lie about it in court. It is simply beyond debate that this occurs, and I've seen 'em brag about it over BBQ and beer. This is not a good cops/bad cops post - the point is that a guy who is pitching a bait by a dock in public water should not have to endure a sliver of worry about being screwed over by the locals. It just ain't right. I'd like to know what the landowner told the dispatcher in order to elicit such a vigorous response from the law. My friend's house was burglarized, he saw the thieves leaving and called 911, and about 40 minutes later a patrol unit leisurely drove up. At the very least, the officers should have sternly advised that idiot that calling the police when there is no crisis is not appreciated.
I wouldn't, myself, never join a religion that restricted my diet; see, I don't want to get into heaven that way. -William Fontaine de la Tour D'Haute Rive

You think the cops would have filed a report? Maybe the answer is there? Or maybe not....

if you don't stand your ground and you leave then the land owner will do it again. Someone said you kept the cops from real crime. Really... the land onwers learned that it is NOT a crime to fish by there dock. They learned something about the law. Always keep a cool head and if you have a camera phone take pics or video. You did good.

bmontgomery, please post the exact location of the incident so we all know where we need to drop our anchor next time we fish out there.

You could ask to have them cited, laws exist for hunter and angler harassment.

It's not hard to know the exact location by his description. Next time I'm over there I'm going to be sure to spend some extra time right there. Fish or no fish.

Keep in mind guys, the sad truth is, that beach front property that they're protecting has probably gone down in value so much the past decade (and recently) from the algae blooms, they have to bit** at something. I'm glad you held your ground, much respect.

Holy [censored] Batman you are guilty as sin because you were touching the water that was touching the dirt that was touching the tree roots that are touching her property. We must never touch the water again. Just send your boats to me for disposal. Free of charge of course.

Last night at 8pm I was fishing in my boat in De Cordova. I was anchored front and in the back of the boat next to the Car Bridge on the west bank. The land owner came down raising #### at me that I was on her property. My anchors were both clearly in the water next to the bank. We had a few words, she told me I needed to move my boat, I told her a was on BRA property and that I wasnt doing anything wrong. She left on a good note " I thought" the next thing I know her son inlaw pulled up and told me to leave, I said Sir im fishing and not doing anything wrong I am not on her property my anchors are clearly in the water. He said my anchors were touching the roots of the trees in the water and that was her property. I said no its not I just want to fish and be left alone. Then things got pretty bad. I told them to call the Game Warden or the Sherrif. Next thing I know 2 Sherrif cars come flying down the road with lights on and De Cordovas Security Guard which I had called. The Sherrif told me I was doing nothing wrong to keep fishing and not worry about it that I was not breaking any laws. After everyone left fishing just wasnt fun at that time anymore. But I stood my ground till everyone left then I called it a night. No fish!!!! Some say I should have moved but I felt like I needed to stay so they wouldnt do the same to my fellow fisherman!! Hopefully you all agree and I didnt make a #### of myself. Thoughts and Opinions welcomed. Hopefully no one else has a problem. Just want to warn you what you might get into in their!! Which I am moving into De Cordova on the first of the month. I dont have a problem with the place its a nice neighbor hood. But I guess you alway have a few like that. you did right. had it been me i would have waited till 2 or so am. then make as much noise as possible when leaving. people buy water front property and they think they payed for the whole lake or river.

Fish that spot every time you hit the water. I'd organize my buddies and have everyone anchor up there with a line in the water. The propertyline ends where the water begins.
