Hello,

I have a habit of trying to catch my shrimp with my cast net before i go on a trip. The "shrimping " wasnt that great until last weekend when i pulled up somewhere close to 200 or 300 shrimp! (half if a 5 gal. buckets worth)Now today i go try again and pull up a grand total of 5....where did the shrimp go? I know they move inland at somepoint in the year but only for one weekend? Did they move further inland or go back out?

p.s.- i live on Taylor lake (basicaly clear lake)

Thanks

I heard they're on vacation in Cabo...haha...no seriously though I didnt even know that you could effectively catch shrimp with a net. What kind of water do you target when catching them?

Make a note...nurserys and estuaries are pretty much "off-limits" according to TPW...probably a lot of controversy about where you can harvest shrimp with a cast net. (See the TPW Outdoor Annual/ fishing and Hunting Regulations booklet/ Shrimp Regulations section). I've only had one run-in with a game warden over this, and he was very down to earth with me in terms of explaining about the things they (TPW) were most concerned about. By and large, if you're just "bait-shrimping" (as an individual) you probably have nothing to be worried of...I got the impression their greatest concern had to do with "commercial shrimpers" and the blatant poacher. It sure won't hurt to check with them. Good Luck!
