Just moved to Victoria TX and am looking for some good spots to hit up in lavaca bay maybe? I have a little 16ft v-bottom with a 6hp on the back and am lookin for some places fairly close that i can drop the boat. Any help would be appreciated.

6 Mile Boat Ramp and Point Comfort Boat Ramp offer access to the west side of the bay. Great for redfish. Lavaca Bay can get very rough with a southeast wind, so watch wind reports the day ou're fishing.

Port O'Conner offers great fishing as well, but is very crowded on weekends and holidays.

In the winter, Lavaca river is really good, Keller bay, Powderhorn lake, Charlies between Seadrift and Port Oconnor are all accessable for small boats.

Absolutely is game on right now...but small boats and big waves aren't a good combination.

Small boat high winds:
Put in at powderhorn lake, no problem
Charlies, between Seadrift and Port Oconnor, straight access into shoalwater lake, good flats opportunity.

I don't throw bait, but a spook topwater, tequila sand eel, and pumpkin paddle tail minnow will get you bit.

Saltwater fishing in flats and bays is all about finding the baitfish. Find the pods of mullet, you'll find fish close by.

I have been able to put in Powderhorn from the county road bridge and work back toward the bay. Lots of gators in there during some times of the year
