How about when you are floating in the water, waiting for your fishing partner (in the early dark a.m. of course)who is parking the truck and feel your shoes getting wet! My buddy forgot the ol' drain plug on his boat so he had to beach it on the rocks (Amistad), jump in the cold water and try to screw the plug in. He was freezing all day.

Ive done that at the coast. I just got up on plane until my buddy got the trailer backed down, that keeps most of the water out.

Hey Chuck do you fish Lake Murvaul much. That is one of my favorite lakes. My parent live in Henderson and when I go and see them I go and me and my dad tear them up.

I forgot to put in the drain plug one morning tied the boat off to the dock and went to park my truck then had a 5 min phone call before walking down to the dock and noticing that the back of the boat was way low in the water. Ran it up on the shore and ran the bilge pump for a long time. Just glad I got it started the batteries were under water. That night I bought one of these 1 way valve drain plugs at academy and installed it. It has a plastic ball inside that won't let water in but will let it drain out.

How about forgetting to set the parking brake while loading. Did that, truck jumped out of park and into reverse. Had to hold the truck and trailer out of the water with the outboard while the guy next to me ran over and put my truck back in park. Thank goodness I wasn't on the ramp alone or I would have lost my ride home.

Fishing with my dad early eighties on Conroe hydrilla was everywhere. Got it all tangled up around the outboard. Decided to use paddle and pry against the transom to clear hydrilla. Got the motor free headed back to scotts ridge to load up. While waiting at the ramp for my brother to back down trailer feet started getting wet. Evidently, when we pryed the drila off the motor we caught the plug (old school T handle) and jerked it out. Hit the bilge pump, nothing. Fine time to find out it's not working. Luckily we had an extra plug (still in the blister pack) and by the time dad chewed through the plastic and got the new plug installed there was water up to the rod box, about a foot. Ever try to load a boat and pull it up the ramp with about 800 + pounds of water? Not an easy task. Sat on the ramp for about 1/2 hour draining the boat back into the lake.

Thank god, it was during the week and only one other boater was on the lake. This took place at Fayette county lake July 1, 1997. I'd tell the story, but the video is better.

rolfmao I'd post it here, but theres alot of language

What a hoot!!!! I'm laughing so hard I have tears running down my neck!!! Loved all your stories. Never owned a boat on a trailer, therefore never had to load or unload one. I'm sure I'd be the talk of the town if I did. I guess everyone has to start somewhere. Thanks for the laughs!! fish

Yeah, I haven't watched it in a while. I forgot about our flowery vocabulary. You could post the two minute one. America's funniest home videos dubbed their own audio on to that one so it would be suitable for tv. We did win five thousand bucks that we split up among ourselves, so that made it eaiser to get over. grin

Thanks eagle... I am sure I was not nearly as conspicuous as I felt!

ssfireman: I actually spend most of our time on Gilmer, Lone Star, or on Pines above 155. Murvaul is usually a 2-3 time a year spot for me. Would love to fish it a little more, but the other three are more conveniently located from the house and my usual fishing partner knows those areas a whole lot better than we do Murvaul.

I wouldn't mind. It would give me a reason to live in my boat and fish every day.
