BUGGGYWHIP Ok, what's this "Gold Thunderchicken"? I gotta see this. Your Thunderchicken can't be worse than my "Little Red". It's not even mine. In 1987 I bought a new GMC S15 Red shiny truck. In 1999 I gave it to my son. Last week he got a company truck and loaned it back to me. It's had a lot of hard miles. Last year he was a victum of road rage and was pinned inbetween 2 vehicles on loop 12. Now the front is banged up and the paint is not peeled off, just worn off. But, as you say...it gets me there. scared

See you in the morning! fish fish

Started at 7, left about 3, went home for a clorox chigger bath. Ankles are covered. bang Shoulda known better, first time I ran into them this year. Thought I was gonna be by myself, Bugggywhip showed up about 7:30, Others came and went later. The fish are small, but they are there. Bugggywhip and I stayed pretty much together, and walked the entire bank and then some. He caught first fish, then was behind me in count the whole day until his last fish. Final count: Bugggywhip 13, Ornery 12.

Here's the lake at 7:15 am:

Here's Bugggywhip with what I think was his first:

Here's RedTopLady with what I think was her first:

Here's one of mine caught on an old Mann's Mosquito Hawk:

And last, another of Bugggywhip with one of the larger ones of the day. Thanks for showing me all your spots Richard!

Meant to add: Any bream fishermen out there, this place was full of them. I never got any on lures, but others did, and I think somebody with red wigglers and bobbers could soon have a big fish fry. On the north bank (if you can call a 15' bluff a bank) I saw a HUGE bluegill. The water is extremely clear.

Well I couldnt make it out there but I did get to make it to a little pond in Benbrook 1/2 hour away..
Our son decided he didnt want to go to his school party mad untill about 10:30 so I went somewhere closer...
He was bigger then the pic shows..Musta been the way I was holding it..It was over 16"'s but really skinny..
I chucked in a purple worm with gold flecks & couldnt keep them off..My worm was gettin pretty chewed up so I went to change it opened my bag of goodies looked down & saw a snake with about a 4" girth so I grabbed my stuff & left real quick..I was standing on a old truck cab & he was right in there with me..lol

Too bad you could not make it today. This spot is pretty, fish have really nice color and the little lake is big as you can see in Ornery's pics. Looks like you did get to fish after all and nice pic of that skinny fish. The ones I caught today were skinny too. That is the Bass, the sunfish are fatties.

This is Curly Cam's smallest ever Bass...

My fattest Sunfish, caught on a big white crankbait...

Curly Cam and I stayed and fished the "Blue Hole" until around 5:30. He walked and fished the whole little lake 4 times. We finished up the day at a small private pond near my house. We got home just before dark.

Ornery mentioned the "Chiggers" eeks . I sprayed my legs, jeans, shoes, socks with Off before I started fishing and still got them, not very bad, not like Ornery. BUGGGYWHIP, where you graced with their torture too?

luckylure stopped by and visited with me a while then drove to an access point on the other side of the little lake where he fished quite a while with Curly Cam. Did not get any pics of his fish, he was too far from me. Curly told me he caught several Bass.

Was a good day of... fish

I think I might go again Sun around 7:30am. Did not arrive on Sat until late morning. Want to try the earlier bite.

Cid...there was a small boat with 2 young guys on the water yesterday late afternoon. They were fishing and paddling. The wind was so high they carried the boat up past where I was fishing and put it back in so they could drift back to the other end. They were still there when we left.

Well looks like every one had a good time in spite of the fish being a little small this year and the curse of the chiggers which for some reason never aflict me as bad as the next person.Any way let me say this the fishing only gets better the hotter it gets and hopefully the catch will get bigger. really enjoyed meetig all ya'll and we'll have to to it again sometime, and thanks ornery for the pic's. thumb flag

I drove past there twice today, and it looked like there were several out there each time. Before last week, I don't think I ever saw anyone else there. Maybe I just wasn't looking hard enough. noidea

I really enjoyed visiting with you Buggy and Red. Ornery, sorry I missed you. I went again this evening and caught plenty. I can't get over how healthy the fish are there. I bet you there are some monster catfish in there the more I learn about the place.
