As topic says does any one run 80LB TM on a 20 or 21 foot boat? Or do most run 101 lbs?
Thanks

At 19'10" mine will jerk it around pretty well. nothing like a 101 but the 80 is much more quite in my dealings. 101 is a flat out hoss. I run all day and have no issues. Sun up to sun down in normal conditions. Same thing in the wind. The 101 is great if you plan to be in tournaments but I would not let that be a deciding factor if you find a clean boat.

Mine is 19' 6" and I run a Motorguide 80lb tour edition. It does great unless you are in 20+ winds all day.

Reason I ask is I just bought a 80LB Fortrex less then 2 months ago for the boat I am now selling. The new boat I bought has a 101 Fotrex on it but it's not in as good of shape as mine. I was told the Fotrex from a few years ago have been redesigned and are much better. I think I see that first hand now. Not that the Fortex on the new boat is horrible. It works but it's loud and needs some touch up. Loud as in when you move the foot pedal it squeaks like it needs WD40 or something but that isn't a "fix" to me.
The boat I am selling I still have the 74 lb Minn Kota for it so I could put that back on there if I need too.
The other con here though is my 80 LB fotrex is 24v and the 101 is 36v. Seems like I would have more juice all day with the 36v.
Maybe I will just see if this thing is still under warranty. What would you do if you were me?

Most 101's are loud. They growl. Grrr! But I still sometimes wish I had just a tad more when someone rolls in the cove to cut me off.
