Well I upgraded to a Ranger 363V from my old Tracker and I can't wait to put it in the water in Texas. Got vacation time coming and this time next week we will be on Fork for a solid week to catch some bass. I usually fish Birch, White Oak, and Little Mustang in the spring but I hear their is no grass to be found this season.

Anyone have suggestions for where to key in, or do you think my usual locations will still produce in the abscence of grass?

first thing you need to do is take your keys out of your pocket, and run a key down the whole side of theboat... that way you wont be worried about fishing in stumps and putting the first scratch on it wink

Well I don't think I will get that extreme, as it's a used boat and has scratches already. Plus I never by a boat or truck to look at. They are made to get me to the game I'm trying to find.

I fished south end, Chaney Creek, all last week. Nothing but solid slot fish, saw one guy catch one that probably beat the slot. Wasn't Sharelunker, but a darn good fish. The fish were really moving in this past sunday, and Chaney doesn't get as much pressure as the north end since it's the southern most creek on the lake. Water temps in the low 60's, all of the fish I caught were in 3-9 feet of water. A little opposite of what you're used to by fishing in the northern end of the lake, but it could pay off if you fished it.

I'm not opposed to trying new locations. Thanks for the tip on Chaney, I will add that in for sure.

Chaney has a nice boat ramp in the very back too. Which is nice to have on days like today with the wind howling a billizon miles an hours.

That ain't No Lie!

I have put more scratches on my boat in the last three trips than the previous two YEARS because of the lake being low and all the stumps sticking outta the water!

ADVICE if you launch and fish from chaney- Launch as far on the dock side of the ramp as possible, with the lake being low, the middle of the ramp has a big pot hole in it. Over 4 days, I didn't get the great numbers, had 14 fish, but nothing under 3 lbs is a good trip. Found a biggun on a bed when I had to leave, she was really finicky and didn't want to hit. The wind isn't a big factor that far south, it's manageable, unlike main lake when the wind is blowing. Throw watermelon color, every fish I caught was on watermelon.
