Thinking about going to bob sandlin this weekend, I don't really know much about the lake. Is it pretty easy to run? Anything I need to know about? How has the fishing been?
Thanks

there are going to be 2 bass club tournaments that i know of out there this weekend and reagens was rumored to have been completely booked since end of february for this weekend. buddy of mine said that the lake was about 3 feet low but fairly clear said the bite was really good one day and the next they couldnt get bit by a mosquito? he fished for 3 days last week (mid week).

I'll make it easy on someone looking for a place to stay and just sell them a lake home out there. I love me some Sandlin! But yes, it's about 3' low. Bring OFF because the mesquitoes ARE biting!

Sandlin is a big lake and fishes big, I am sure there will be plenty of water to fish...

We camped out there this past weekend. The fishing was tuff for us after about 10 o'clock but thats when the wind started hitting 15+ mph. Went down under the 21 bridge and they were starting to spawn down there, caught several on beds. did most of my fishing between the railroad bridge and the dam. They haven't started spawning on that end yet but caught several males shallow scouting and some females staging a little deeper. Also caught a tone of sand bass up shallow, i guess their spawning or getting ready to also? Not sure. Also the crappie bite was decent at times. But their scattered around the lake with some still deep and some shallow. The lake is like the rest said about 3-3 1/2ft low. Running it really wasn't a problem most of the lake is pretty clear, once you get down near the state park ramp then past the 21 bridge be careful if you've never navigated the area. A good rule of tumb when the lake is at normal level is you can see most of everything you would hit, but since its low there might be some that sneak up on you that usually wouldn't come into play. I was lucky enough not to find those.
Are best lures for largemouth were t-rigged lizards, red/black lipless cranks, and shad pattern squarebills. Alos did good c-rigging baby brush hogs for those staging bass. Caught all are sand bass on shad pattern lipless cranks and white/chart spinnerbaits. crappie were mostly on minnow but were able to grab some from time to time on blue/pink feather jigs and green/chart plastic jigs.
Hope this helps and good luck.
