I have fished POC a lot in the years past with great sucess. I no longer own a saltwater boat but would love to get back down. Does anyone know a guide that takes wade fishermen out to the flats and picks them up later? Would like to spend the day on the flats basicaly need a ride there and back.

Kelly parks is the best guide down their!!!!!!!!!! I lived down there with my papa since I could fish, not by my parents choice haha. I would not go with castaway lodge. My second choice would be Clyde roni they are both very good friends mine. If you can't find him, call down to froggy's bait dock and his wife's name is Connie. These are the 2 best guides in poc without a doubt and they both have very nice boats to navigate the water comfortably.

I promise you that if you mention "DP's grandson" they know exactly who you are talkin about. If you tell me the dates and if it doesn't conflict with school, I could take y'all out for a very discounted rate. I would like nothing more than to get my guide service started.

woah woah woah!!!! Kelly Park's is a good friend of mine. All he was doing was trying to get his clients into a good hunting spot and somebody was in HIS blind.. and as long as i've known him and fished with him, he is a great guy and I have never seen him be a "lousy individual" I am extremely offended by your comment!! Every time I have seen his clients get off his boats they are all smiles and having a great time and even when they all go to Cathy's or Josies. I just don't think you know him at all.

No reputable Guide is going to leave you unattended! There are many fine guides in POC area.Capt. Lynn Smith is a good one.

Just following the thread here. Some stories on some guides. I will not mention the names of these guides, they will remain anonymous. Guide (1) fishing Baffin bay, Guide (1), comes to his favorite rock, guide (2) is already there, Guide(1) says, "get off my rock i have clients and this is my rock" Guide 2 says, "No, Make me". Guide (2) jumps on Guide's (1) boat, beats the [censored] out of Guide (1). End result, Guide (1) carries a sidearm and preaches the lord.
Guide (1) and (2) are fishing a big tournament with Croaker. They both reserve the same Croaker from the same Marina. There is a mix up with who gets the bait, so, Guide (2) gets the last of the bait. Guide(1) who is also a house guide at the Marina, arrives late and confronts Guide(2). A fight ensues and there both rolling on the ground, infront of their clients and others fishing the tournament. End Result, Guide (1) doesn't guide anymore, don't know about Guide(2).
Brother n law hires a guide down south. We met him at the launch early. Brother n law gets sick before we get out. He's in the bathroom for over an hour. Guide gets pissed off! Tells me that we probably can't get bait, because the other Marina is the only one with Croaker. I tell him we are experienced and can fish artificials. Guide is turning red and the dude is quite large! Finally we get out on the water and find the first stop. The Guide Shouts, " Your fishing artificial, no bait and get out fast." We had to re-rig so, the brother n law is moving slow. BROTHER N LAW IS ALITTLE MAD NOW! I just want to fish. Guide is getting more red! Next thing you now, another guide jumps my guide's spot, right infront of us, and drops off all of his clients. Our,Guide starts yelling at them and practically jumps in after them! Next thing you know the other Guide cranks up his boat and takes off like a jet. Our, Guide, starts chasing the other Guide, down the Intracoastal for a few miles cussing at the top of his lungs. End result, we never caught the guide! Never hired this guide again. Guide doesn't guide anymore.
What the point is: 1) We all need to act appropriately. 2) Conduct ourselves in a professional manner. 3) Act respectfully at all times.
I really don't know why some of these guides mentioned don't guide anymore, but I would like to think it's partly due to how you treat others.

Think I'll stick to my own devices... even if it means catchin' nuthin' but hard heads. Better to have one on the end of my line than to pay one for a ride! Seriously these guy's make even my worst guide sound like a stand up guy. Admittedly it's been about 20 yrs. since I fished guided. Seems as though things have just gotten to competitive. We were drifting between two spoils today on the ICW. Guide (with name and the works emblazened on the side of his boat) cuts close to another anchored small craft, comes around the island, slides sideways upon seeing our drift, rants briefly, and blazes off. WTH DID I DO WRONG??? Thing is, I'm pretty sure we were the only three boats as far as the eye could see! LIGHTEN UP!!!

You know there was a time when it was cool to hire a guide. With the economy in it's current state; it's even more important to act appropriately. We all lose control at times, I will give them that. I know that their on a short window of time, and they can be painted in a corner pretty quickly. The pressure is on to perform, so the water that we share with them is their working spots.
