Going to Somerville Tuesday and while waiting for the crappie to bite would like to fish for a few buffalo, like the fight on light tackle, what size hook would you recommend? Thanks...

The smaller the better..used to fish 4 them alot...they are a blast....I would use very small mustad/eagle claw you dont wont much dough bait on there.less than the size of a pecan...

Size 6 long shank, with a healthy slug of garlic punch bait wrapped around the hook (using a long stick to touch that stuff.)
I'm not a fan of Buffalo, but Saturday, a regular at the Sommerville Marina, (killing time while waiting for the crappie to start for the mid-afternoon bite) dragged several HUNDRED POUNDS of the big uglies onto the fishing dock at the marina. For some reason he began to string the creatures.
After getting properly tired, he reached down to pull up the stringer, the line broke, and the gang at the dock had a good laugh as they watched buff after buff enjoy the benefits of "catch-and-release". The angler thanked the crowd for the applause and suggested hea didn't mind the broken stringer as it was easier to watch the fish meander back to the depths rather than spend an hour or so unstringing them.
Sounds like a good promo for size six long shanks, plus that garlic stink bait they sell at the marina.

Thanks for the info, I'm thinking of a #10 treble and some sweet dough bait, but may try some of that garlic bait...
