Well folks, we are very near the end of the 2011 spawn and it still hasnt rained. In the next two and half weeks is normally the hottest time of the spawn to catch these fish up in the creeks and rivers. We have a full moon which will allow fish to move upstream at night, but here again, there just isnt enough water flow to bring up the numbers. But if one can just hit it on a good day when a large wave of fish move up, then they can hit the jack pot.

Ive only gone fishing for these whites like five or six times this year with crappy results. One time I caught a little over a limit. Then one time I caught twenty two. Those were my two best trips. The other trips were fourteen fish or less. Plus Ive had to fish for four hours just to produce these numbers. Its extremely slow this year. With that said, I think Im almost through fishing for the whites this year. I say almost through because I can see myself possibly going a couple more times before this month is up just because I love it so much. But I sure wouldnt hold my breath to this statement. The next ten to twelve days should be the peak of the spawn. If you cant get on a good bite with in this time frame, then forget it, youre not going to catch the numbers this year.

I feel your pain fishytx. I was skunked there last Tuesday. I didn't see many fish as in years past. Although the fish I did see were larger than the norm. I may go one or two more times this year. My neigbor is having some luck on the Pedernales fishing from a boat way downstream from Reimer's. somewhere between the 71 bridge and Reimers. I'm too lazy to get my jon boat and get out there. I recon it's probably time to go after the large mouth bass. I'd imagine they're about ready to spawn now.

Shut up and fish!

Well. I've been chasing some blacks too. In fact, Im doing real good on those right now.
But I have heard some good reports about the Pedernales River. If you put in at Mona's, it's not to far upstream before you hit the river. I've thought about going, but shoot man, it's like 85 to 90 miles for me to haul my boat one way, and I'm not sure I'm ready to do this. I'll hit the steps a few more times before the spawn is over and then I'll be through with this years spawn.

I have not kept one white bass this year. I've either given them to someone, or I have released them as soon as I can get the hook out. My freezer is still packed with whites from last year. I bet I have over 20 bags of filets left. I just hope next year is a productive year like last year, other wise Ill be out of whites.

I was out there Sunday morning. There were a couple of guys fly fishing upstream from the steps that were doing pretty well, wonder if they visit the forum site and if so wonder if they could recommend a streamer fly? Any help appreciated, folks!

Thanks Etread...kinda figured a shad/minnow imitator would do the trick, although I couldn't get 'em to pick it up the other day...a few guys were doing well on river caught shad, though.
