Did very well Friday/Saturady over a mussel bed the wind was hitting hard... One day on red Cordell Soper Spot(6 between 18-21inches) next day they turned on the same time/same spot exactly! (14 between 16-23 1/2 inches). All on big trap varieties in shad colors-I love that lake!

Simon Peter said to them "I am going fishing" They said "We are going fishing also."

When Lake Fork first opened in 1980 it was great. Many of the guys I knew didn't fish it because it was rumored to have too many small fish in it. I fished it a couple times a week and found plenty of fish I was proud to catch. Even though the lake was not allowed to fill to proper pool level for the first couple of years, it had so many creeks and cuts and so much timber, structure and cover I used to think "this lake will NEVER get crowded because you can always move further up the creek or deeper into the timber". But the population of the U.S. has grown by about 50% since then, and the timber has thinned substantially. I think the old gal gets pounded pretty hard but on a good day it's still one of the best....ever.

I visited Fork again today with another buddy and we managed about 35 fish from noon to 5:30 at the same spot another buddy and I caught 50+ at on Friday. We caught 2 that would go about 7lbs and the rest were 2lbs to 5lbs. Hopefully this pattern will hold for a while. On Friday I accidentally tail-hooked what I thought was a Drum that would weight 25 to 30lbs. I looked it up on the internet and now believe it was a Buffalo! It certainly was a fight even hooked in the tail!

I don't know how to post pictures so here's a link:

I fished Sat from 7 -5 and boated 5 biggest being a little over 8. It was tough fishing. Bluebird day, hot and lots of boat traffic. In one cove alone there were 32 boats. You saw everything from the novice new boat owner, the old timer anchored drinking coffee, and lots of husbands with wives sun bathing on the back deck. It was crazy. Oh and to you sir who felt the need to use your big motor as a trolling motor every chance you got to get ahead of me. thank you.

Business is business and guides are no different, but, Lake Fork is not the pearl it used to be. Limited if any grass beds, LMBV, too many rednecks keeping slot fish and just plain old age has let a lot of steam out of Fork. You would be better off at O.H.Ivie or Amistad or Falcon.

Actually, keeping some slot fish is exactly what that lake needs. Overmanagement is killing it!

I agree. I live 45 minutes from Fork and hate it now. I grew up fishing it and know what it was like in the 80's and 90's. It is way overrated now and is one tough lake when it wants to be. I hate the crowds too!
