I understand the go fast appeal but can a few of you share your thoughts on the fishability and durability of a Bullet? Thanks.

Contant Ken A on here. He has one and lots have rode in it. I fished out of one and to me the ride is better then a skeeter, champ and ranger. The fishing part is awesome. Get u a 21ft cause the bigger front deck. I will only own a bullet when I do buy one!!!!!

Great boats. I ran a 20XD for three years. Loved the speed, and ease of getting around. If Bass Cats weren't available, I would own another one, but my Cougar is fast and is made for fishing!!

They rock for bed fishing...
I fish mostly out of rangers, so the drift when fishing the main lake is always frustrating.

I fished from a 20XD for about 8 years. Very stable platform with minimum movement when fishing or moving around in the boat. The storage was on par with most boats. I was not a fan of the livewell, but they may have changed that. I loved the speed and handling of the boat. They hold their resale very well if you take care of them. I really never had a problem with the boat and would buy another. I would like to look at the new 21SS model. All in all, just about the best boat I have ever owned.

Thanks. That's what I was curious about. They seem lighter so I wanted to know if they blow around a bit more and if they held up over time when taken care of.

I ran Bullets for 12 years there very very fast turn like a car,the 21ft rides great has tons of storage area maybe not the most convenient storage your drain tubes on your front deck will eventually stop up and all your storage under the front deck wont be dry any more until you run new tubes. It has a massive live well biggest I've ever had keeps fish alive in the heat great.I have owned three of them and only one had a stress crack in the splash tray at the transom and I ran mine hard smooth water rough water didn;t matter it took it every time.If you choose to purchase one you will not be sorry they are the toughest boat I've ever owned bar none.

They just put out a new model called a 21ss it is a true 21' boat. I had a 21xd it was a beautiful boat, a little hard on the back in rough water and rod lockers not set up well. Switched to a Bass Cat cougar and now I won't own anything else .

Thanks. That's what I was curious about. They seem lighter so I wanted to know if they blow around a bit more and if they held up over time when taken care of. Mine does blow around more in the wind. That and the livewell are the only things I would like to change. The livewell works fine, it is just a little weird how they set the valves and stuff up.

I have a 21xrd and will not own another boat that is not a Bullet. It has lots of storage area, just not in the conventional 20 different compartment set up. Yes the nose gets pushed around in the wind a bit more. I love the rough water ride of my boat and most would be amazed how well they ride.
My dad has a 98 model 20xd that still looks brand new. It is all in how you take care of them.

+1, rides great, tons of storage. Never rode in a 20' just my 21'. Windy point fishing it will blow around a bit easier than a boat that weighs hundreds more. The light weight has advantages, it tows easy. You don't need a 101 trolling motor to move it around. There are so many good boats mfg available today there are alot of choices. I would be proud to own any. Mine is a 97 model and it has a stress crack or two. When I shine it up looks like a Newish boat. I know alot of folks rave about certain brands customer service. I think Basscat and Bullet are at the top of the list. If or when you call the factory you talk to someone who will remember you 3 months later. Everyone has a preference. What is good for some is not for someone else. Do not be afraid to ask for a ride in many diff. Brands before you decide. I have a 21xrd and will not own another boat that is not a Bullet. It has lots of storage area, just not in the conventional 20 different compartment set up. Yes the nose gets pushed around in the wind a bit more. I love the rough water ride of my boat and most would be amazed how well they ride.

i try to look at like this. I look at people who fish for a living. You do not see touring pros or guides driving bullets, the reason for this could be numerous of reasons. I cant speak for the boats, i have never been in one. but this just something i have noticed with people who use boats on a daily basis and make a living out of fishing in them

Pro's use what evver their sponsers give them or give them discounts on. But I see were your coming from. If someone is paid to fish out of a tracker they would.. or in this case a bullet. I have never rode in one but would definatly ride in every boat before i purchased it. Just my 2 cents

Good pros fish out of whatever kind of boat they prefer. their skills will get them any boat they want. Its all a preference thing in most cases. I fished a pro am bout 8 years ago out of one and it was very very fast, fished good, live wells were kinda diff., and when the wind picked up got a little wet going across the water. But it still rode good. That was 8 years ago, good boat, sure they are a lot better now.

Bullet does not sponsor anyone. They make around 300 boats a year.
I own a 21xrd and would put it up against all the brands. The livewell is great to me. It is a little diffrent than all the cookie cutters, but it works great and keeps fish alive.
Mine gets great fuel mileage as compared to some of my buddies cookie cutters because it is lighter. I can run mine 3/4 throttle at a cruising speed of 76 mph.
A bullet is a diffrent boat than most, but that is why I like it.

Bullet does not Sponsor any pro fishermen. They pretty much sell every boat they build without doing that.
They dont mass produce hulls like alot of builders. Everything is hand laid.
The boats themselves are very simple. Things have not changed much over the years.
Nate do you really believe many pros pay full price for a boat?

i never mentioned anything about price.
And if the boats were so great, i would think you would see at least one pro driving one, sponsored or not

haha, Okay. I personally will fish out of whatever I can afford.
I just know mine is paid for and that makes me happy.
I would not buy anything without taking it for a spin.

People ask me about the Bullets because I have owned so many. My analogy of Bullets is this:
Rangers, Basscats, Tritons are like Ford, Chevy, Dodge. All of them are good boats and will get the job done.
Bullets & Allisons are like Porsche and Ferrari. You do give up some amenities compared to the major brands but the performance is beyond anything the others can offer.
Lots of pros & cons to Bullets. They tow easier. They move around easier on the troll motor. They get fuel mileage that is incredible. I run a 34 pitch prop on my Merc 300XS. The boat will run 85 at 5,500 rpms while getting over 5 mpg. That is 3/4 throttle.
They do not ride quite as well as a boat that weighs 2,000 pounds. The wind blows them around more than a Ranger Z521 when you are fishing but they do fish quite well. If they didn't I wouldn't have owned seven of them since 1994.
Most guys know someone that knows someone that owns one and that guy told them that Bullets ride rough. Kind of like Ferraris. The Ferrari ain't gonna ride like your Dodge truck and the Bullet ain't gonna ride like your Basscat Cougar. This doesn't mean either one of them are bad products.
David Strahan, full-time guide at Fork has run a Bullet 21XD since 1995 and has worn out TWO new Mercury outboards. How many hours do you think a guide has put on his rig in 15 years of full time guiding at Lake Fork. Call him and ask him how it has held up to the stumps.
His boat is as good a testimony to their toughness as any I know of. By the way, my 2008 Bullet is for sale up in the Boats for Sale section.

You will not find a better boat made. Those who say they ride rough probably don't know how to drive any brand boat in rough water. The livewells are different, but simplistic, meaning they are easy to fix, same thing with the switches for your accessories... meaning I can pull into any auto parts store and replace a switch for $8 instead of having to order a $40 switch at a boat dealership. The boat is made for functionality and is easy to work on.
The reason they haven't changed much over the last 15 years or so is because they got it right the first time. Top notch customer service, excellent fishability, excellent gas mileage, easy to tow, great storage, and easily the toughest bass boat built.
The only thing I would change is the storage lids on the rear deck, they open towards the back, which makes it a hassle for the guy fishing with you to stow his gear there. I think they corrected that with the new SS model.
If you've never driven a Bullet, they take some time to get used to driving them at high-speeds, so don't expect to just hop in one and drive 83-85 miles an hour... take it easy at first and learn how to drive it. After awhile it becomes second nature.
You don't see pros running bullets because Bullet doesn't sponsor anyone. I asked the owner why they didn't and he said they don't want to charge their customers extra money for a pro to fish out of a boat for free.
There are some fine boats out there but bottom-line, if you're looking for the best-built bass boat ever made, get a Bullet. You will not be dissappointed.

You seem to be having a lot of difficulty with this boat thing. If you truly believe that so many of the pros run a Nitro because of the outstanding quality of the boat, then by all means, go out and get you one.

maybe its just me, but i dont understand what your talking about I understand exactly what he is talking about. You probably will never see a sponsored pro in a Bullet...or for that matter an Allison, Sterling, Stroker, Lanier, etc...They probably build more Nitro's in a week than these builders produce in a year. These builders do not rely on sponsorship to sell their yearly production. Just different marketing philosophies. Some people are happy with a Kia and some people are only happy with a Porsche. Different strokes.

I owned a Allison and it was alot of fun. Ran faster than most boats, was light and towed easy, and it got alot of attention and compliments. The bad side was that fishing in Texas one encounters alot of stumps. After the 3rd trip to the Fiberglass repair shop, and my boat insurance company cancelling my policy, I dediced to sell the boat. I am not sure what kind of resin or fiberglass that a Bullet is made out of but the rule of thumb is the lighter the boat the thinner the fiberglass. I better duck now because I can hear the Bullets flying my way!!!

Kevlar Bullet hulls are Kevlar, Does not mean it is Bulletproof. I know if I whacked a stump hard enough it would be in the shop like any other brand. I owned a Allison and it was alot of fun. I enjoyed the 21XD I had and you will be hard pressed to find a better built boat. That being said I was not a fan of the way it fished for me. I am sure others love it but it was not for me so I kept it just a short time. Not a knock on the boat at all. I did love driving it though and again it was very well built. also if anyone says they ride rough they either have not been in one or was with a driver that was clueless.
