Well i thought i was done at Nueces but my other brother called and wanted to take his eleven year old boy. So we hit it Friday morning at five am. On the sand bar at rapids at eight ish. Could not buy a fish. Tried all areas the bend the calm the fast the deep the shallow in the trees different depths ONE WHITE BASS in twenty minutes. Sunday and Monday i caught probably 150 whites and twenty blue cats. Uncle caught 35 wednesday must have drained the area. Threw in deep cover under fallen tree the blues are still there got four in four casts. We were after whites so up river we go. Got to next set of rapids past the huge pile of brush and deep water. Fished fast current one foot of water. Pulled 25 quick then dead. Moved up river again past sharp left turn. Fished fast water again one foot deep. Casted in eddie next to swift water WHITE BASS ON FIRE. Every cast as fast as it hit. Caught probably 75 there. Kept three limits headed home at 1230. My theory all fish in current either ambushing shad or fertilizing females eggs Just a guess. But ZERO FISH in slack water or deep water. Even when the fish are on fire i could not get them with lures tried spinners grubs etc. Water color horrible.

When do you think the run is going to end?

When i cleaned em there was two females out of 75 fish. Same thing last time. Totally guessing but one more week. They run was weird this year never got on fire thru whole river. You had to go to rapids if you wanted lots of fish. Dont get me wrong it was a good year just that the fish were all in one area. At least for me. Ill bet the fat females were at rapids in December. So they were there a while. But there are some nice males to 15 and a half inches still there. Son went today same spot same results. Caught fifty. He did say you could let rooster tail just spin in current and they would slam it. I did not have luck on lures. One side note i think when there are more people it is harder to limit. Most water im fishing is shallow. If boats go by you are done for thirty minutes or completely and you must move. When im all alone i find em and its usually a limit one spot.
