Got to spend a few days in Laqitas Texas for Spring break right on the U.S. Mexico border at Big Bend. The resort we stayed at had a pond there that was several acres but the lady at the desk told me no one every caught anything out of it. I changed that...
got 4 channel cats, 7 sunfish, and 2 carp including my new personal worst
Story behind the carp...I was fishing with hot dogs for kitties and my rod bent over. After about a 30yd run I was pretty sure it was not a catfish, sure enough when I got it to the surface it was a fun little 4lb carp.

My dad showed up just in time for a picture. A few minutes later my rod started twitching again and thinking it was a catfish I set the hook. I played it for a few seconds and got it to surface and when it did it was a tiny 9in carp! My new personal worst lol, but it still kinda fought hard for its size.

Sunfish Fly,
I was in Lajitas last month. I was visiting with some hunting guides at a house on the river just west of town. That river sure looks nasty in town, but the scenery is awesome.

Good job on the carp. I fished in the Rio east of Big Bend at Black Gap when I was down there. I saw some huge carp, talking big giant carp, but I was not set up to fish for them so only caught catfish.

Nice pics! After you landed that first carp, you were probably wishing you'd brought some sweet corn too!

Isn't this your first carp since August, Marty?

I didn't believe you before, that thing is teeny! Nice report.

Hey that's awsome, I guess you proved them wrong that there wasn't fish in there.
