6 lb is the biggest I ever use for river whites, sometimes I even use 4 lb for tiny baits.

slowest I have ever seen. Saw many dejected fishermen walking out of the river and back to the campsites without a fish..........Most stringers I saw were between 4 and 7 fish. Stay in one place and let the fish come to you but you better be staying well into the night. Caught 14 from 8:00 to 9:00 pm. The two hrs previous to this was ZERO....... It was slow buy once again Bend provided us a great time. A fire would have even made it a bit better...........Good Luck to all who venture out and make sure you throw the right color................

We were there Thursday thru Saturday afternoon. They are very spotty. Most success was early and late on maribou jigs and using live bait during the day. Not everyone were killing them, but there were limits caught. Bad Bob's Bend store had minnows @ $4 doz. Every fish I cleaned was male, so it hasn't peaked yet.

Just got back from a week down there. It was very spotty fishiing all week. Thursday and sun were the only days i caught a limit fairly early. If you floated minnows up shallow you could limit out in about an 1 1/2 to 2 hours time. Thats what my son did alot of. Most of the females we caught were half way from shallows to boat ramp. Nearly all males up shallow. Yesterday I did catch a few female up shallow early.had 21 but 11:oo and had to start packing. (But I was using minnows)

Yall think the fishing is spotty because the females havnt moved up yet? What is the water level like? Can the fish make it up river past Bend State Park?

I was up there about 10 days ago and caught several females but the eggs were still very pale with little to no veins running through them.
The males were full of sperm but not shooting out like they do when the spawn is full blown.
At that time I figured two more weeks before the females would move shallow which would be this week.

I think this weekend should be good. Females we caught still had pale colored eggs also. Grey crappie jigs and a 1/4 ounce grey or white rostertail worked best for me.

Had the best luck on 1/16oz white marabou jigs w/ silver tinsel. Also caught a few on Orange/chart and 2" white sassy shad. Seemed the smaller the better.

I spoke to someone at the park earlier today and he said the fishing is very hit and miss still. Definately not like last year. I leave out tomorrow morning and sure hope it picks up. I look forward to this every year.
