I was looking at WFAA on the web site and they were wrong for this morning and not updated. Wheather Underground..wrong..wind was way off but it said updated 5 minutes before.

Who do you use for the most accurate weather especially for wind?

It does not seem like any of them are very accurate. It frustrates me because wind is one of the biggest factors for me to consider when deciding when to go and where to go.

With all the training, data and equipment available, sure seems the forecast could be a little more accurate.

Take the forecasted wind speeds and add them together. More accurate I've found.

same here. they have hourly forecasts, too. you can see when the wind is "supposed" to change directions or pick up velocity.

I use this most of the time. They have been fairly accurate and have hourly weather graphs also. Also, when it comes to lakes though, I always figure 5 mph more than what is forcasted. The cool water and the open expanse of the lake will usually generate a little extra.

Set the hook first, ask questions later!!!

Even with all of todays technology, weathermen cannot accurately forecast the wind. They are only 100% correct when the forecast shows that it is going to be "WINDY" and the letters are made to look like they are blowing. Then it is just a matter of how bad it is and you're not going to be on the water anyway. As far as I am concerned, it is going to be at least 15mph every time you get out on the water. Maybe 2 times a year will the water be absolutely flat.

Just my 2 cents worth.

If you can forecast the wind in especially Texas and be within
+/- 5 mph you will get rich.

Agreed. While we're on the subject of wind, can anyone give me any tips on wind fishing. I know sometimes there's just nothing you can do, but I have been on a lake and seen guys fishing spots in wind I'm unable to. My biggest problem is worm fishing, either Texas or C-rig, which I'm anticipating is the same for everyone. Feel is the problem. Wind blowing my line all over the lake and I'm unable to feel bottom hardly at all. What can I do to combat this other then try and throw downwind? Heavier weights?

Forecast for today was 15 to 20. An hour after I got on the lake this afternoon it got slick. Go figure.

Definitely need to bump up the weight, but depending on how much it's blowing, it may be a lost cause worm fishing. I'll fish windy points and banks with a squarebill or spinnerbait which has been more successful.
