I personally have been contacted by game wardens about 7 maybe 8 times not counting out of state. And that covers about 40 years. Of those only one was rude.

Its always better if the GW has a tag along like yours did, otherwise they will drink all of your beer ehn you invite them in.

Never in my life have I excountered a rude GW. Most of them like to talk about fishing/hunting after they do their search and some will even point you to some hot spots on the lake.

I have seen my fair share of wardens, most are nice(but I think that is because I am a law abider) Ran into one on the guadalupe a while back that was a complete azz. Still wasnt in violation of anything, but he thought he was better than us or something.
The majority of the time they are polite, apologize for messin with our fishing check the licenses and PFD's say great luck and are on their way.

I've had contacts with Texas Game Wardens many times and have NEVER had a bad experience. I treat them with respect and they return that courtesy. Exactly. Same here.

My guess is that most of them are just regular people, trying to do their job. Personally, I've never had a bad experience with any of them.
Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.

ChuChu, he was just being a Tx game warden. I've found most of them are rude and quite unfriendly. I have always thought the dept. must send them to nasty school before they train them. If they don't pass, they don't become a GW.

Game wardens are by far the most courteous cops I've ever been arrested by.

I've talked to two face to face one in my hometown in Ohio and I got cited for a bad fire extiguisher but I think he was mad at me bc I was dating his daughter. The other was on phantom and he pointed me in the right direction and I spent the rest of The day pounding crappie. They are just like us. They have a job to do then they want to go have fun.
I fish therefore i am! Tight lines yall. U.S. Air force active duty pb 8.5 pounds

My run-ins with a Texas game wardens...
He motored up keeping his distance and asked to see my license. I held it up while he examined through binocs at it. Parted company with have a mutual have a nice day and be safe.
Another time I was at a small creek bridge having just thrown a cast net for shad. As I'm picking through the shad and putting them in a 5 gallon bucket while throwing small crappie, white and yellow bass back in the creek he waved as he slowly drove by.
Last time was at RayBob. Was coming back to the ramp and tied up to the dock on the way to the pickup but still on the dock. Catch anything? Yeah some nice crappie but I didn't keep anything. Can I check? Sure be my guest. Because my Lund has a lot of compartments I had to direct him to the front and back live wells. He asked some questions about the style of boat because they were still somewhat new to the area. Shook hands and "have a good one".
I've always treated them with dignity and respect, expecting and receiving the same in return.

While fishing the trout circuit in Tarrant county for about 10 years I ran into quite a few license and creel checks. Most of the wardens were friendly and business like. Several were very attractive young women.
When I lived on Lake Ray Hubbard several years ago I found the lake police to be rude and not at all business like. They rodded the police boats and one nearly sunk me by roaring right up beside me and asking to see my life preservers. We were wearing the PFDs!
So I guess I agree there is a mix of game wardens just like anyone else.

Some wardens keep it very "by the book". I think some of them feel as if they loose the upper hand if they become to friendly or social when they make contact. It has been my experience that the older guys that have been on the job a while are a little more laid back and they will stay and talk. I have got some pretty good advice on spots to fish from a warden in the past.
