Years ago I purchased a 12 ft. Orange Ring Retriever (golf ball retriver) for less than $20. I've used it to retrieve many of my own lures and other's from below and above the water. My fishing buddy and I refer to it as the Getter Stick. It has paid for itself many times over.
I just ordered a new 18 ft. model, a longer model could be very tuff to use, due to flex of the tube.
With the cost of lures you may want to consider a retriever of some type.
Good Luck

Great idea. I have one in my old golf bag I will be pulling out tonight, and putting in the boat.

Thanks,

I use that heavy weight with jack chain attached to it that rides down your line and catches your hooks and has it's own line to retrieve it.
