but this one is different from most reported on TFF. I was with my SIL and his Dad baiting lines in the Guadalupe River yesterday afternoon and just as we finished baiting, the game warden boated up. A few standard questions and he then asked for the boat registration. Well, needless to say "Kenny" didn't have them with him, in fact his fishing license and boat card were in his wallet back at their camper. Game warden said no problem, he would come by and see it later. Checked fish in live well, and left. Fast forward, after a dinner of fried fish and shrimp, the game warden drove up to the camper and asked to see the boat registration. Kenny could not find it, but the SIL remembered he had a copy in his wallet. That was fine with the warden. Invited him and his tag a long to help themselves to some fish and shrimp, which they graceiously accepted and enjoyed. They stayed and talked for an hour or so, a very enjoyable experience. This game warden is a new warden, only been on the job for about 7 months and already making a real good reputation for fairness. For those that ask about firearms in a boat, he says no problem. Just follow safety rules and any regulation concerning hunting. Oh, the boat registration card was in the boat all the time, in a dry bag with the owners manual.

Glad you posted a positive experience with a GW.
You hardly hear about the good contacts, but people shout from the mountain top about the bad ones.

This may have made my day! I hope he is able to keep it up over a long career with the State of Texas.

They are no different that any other people. There are some good ones some bad ones. I have had experiences with several different types. I am glad to hear of some good ones. Franklin County has a good one.

Set the hook first, ask questions later!!!

He didn't know he was going to get fish and shrimp till after he didn't write a citation! LOL

No, he would have been invited even if he would have given Kenny a citation. Kenny's just that kind of guy.

I've had contacts with Texas Game Wardens many times and have NEVER had a bad experience. I treat them with respect and they return that courtesy.

I also have had very good experiences with the GWs in all the counties I've lived in. Glad to have them.

When I see them, I'm happy they are doing the job WE pay them to do. Some are just nicer than others. You had a great experience with one trusting warden! fish

I had a GW ask for my license for the first time ever a few weeks ago. I just hardly ever run into them.
